That's not a rut you're in — you're flying down the highway with work like that! Thanks! I appreciate that! I do want to mix it up a bit but inspiration is difficult at times... Me, too! Sometimes I sketch as many as 15 or so variations on a design or two for a given stone and then end up walking away frustrated and disappointed. Does this setting have a backplate? One of the simplest ways to add unique design elements is to extend the plate beyond the bezel. Do you ever do that? Here's one example of a charoite and tanzanite pendant I sold:
A possible variation on your pendant above could be to extend the plate above the bezel into a point (but not attached to the wire) making a combined teardrop shape. The point would need to be curled slightly forward to prevent catching on clothing, but it could add some "drama" to one of your bread and butter designs. Just an idea...

opalpyrexia I do that sometimes, with varying degrees of success...sometimes I'll add some texture to it, or decorative embellishments, which after I do them I usually don't love. That being said, I really like and appreciate your suggestion and will likely try something like that on the next piece I make like this. I really like the piece you posted and the texture is awesome!

This is one of those designs that you could make a whole line out of by just altering it a little bit each time and keep the basic design intact. It's very simple and clean, so as opalpyrexia suggested, extending the base plate, texturing, twisting the wire, etc. would do it.

I love the simplicity of this design. I would not feel bad about reproducing it often. Very nice work! Vic

Thanks everyone for your input. I feel like I'm cheating if I don't mix it up all the time, but based on some great feedback here, I'll try to temper that feeling a bit, make some tweaks and additions here and there and run with it!

It's one of those things that's incredibly satisfying when it works! I've taken several classes, going to take another starting in a couple weeks. I'll look forward to seeing what you do when you take the leap!
