I hate reading post titles like this because I always find myself being insanely jealous.
But my turn came last week. I found a one-owner barely used 24" Highland Park U series. The gentleman had purchased it new in the 70's and hardly used it. It is completed unmolested and original, with the original belt, vise wood, light, etc. It came with two blades, one still in the box, the one in the saw barely used. I had never heard of these blades- they are Raytech Black Blazer. Anyone ever heard of these?
I learned a few things getting this saw. At some point, HP did not engrave the model/serial number on the front plate and used one of these cheap stick-on tape label machines to mark their saws. Also, this saw has the original belt marked "Highland Park Mfg. Co., Inc". How cool is that? Lastly, HP at some time offered a dry-sump option on their saws, consisting of two buckets welded together with an interconnecting tube (think septic tank)and a pump that sat in the second tank, with a fabric filter that fits over the tank drain. I have a U-series already and could never figure out what the fitting in the back of the saw was for. This is why its there. Anyway, the seller confirmed it was a factory option and the whole set-up was included with the saw.
The saw is so nice I'm not sure I even want to run it. My wife is opposed to putting it in the living room though.

Sounds like a rare and awesome find. Not many big saws around from back then that have not been abused over the years. I am already jealous without even knowing what you got it for.

Chuck, I got it to increase my cutting capacity for my summer business (Cooke City Rocks). I have two 24s and a 36 that run six days a week for about 4-5 months a year, and was thinking I could take one of these saws up to Montana and do some cutting in the summer, as that is where my MT wood is kept. But like I said, I'm thinking it's too nice to use!
Cavedweller, I have a lot of picts I would like to post of equipment and specimens, but I am not a techie (my phone is a Razr), which seems to be what you have to be to get picts on RTH. Check my Cooke City Rocks facebook next weekend for the picts.

Drummond, I paid 2500 for it. Not a steal, but I would pay that much any day for a unit in that condition.
