brazing triangular balls shape a subtle moving trick i can only imagine And the places unknown ? You’ll finds tiny balls for years I gotta ask question I never done any silversmith Have done fair enough brazing tho Did you make a triangular pattern first? Did you use an impact punch to scribe the pattern? help hold the balls in place? Or maybe file a flat on the bottom of the balls> Nothing you need to answer Just interested Thanks Ed Ed, I made the balls on a charcoal block so they had a flat side. Cut tiny pieces of solder and hammered them thin so the balls would sit flat. Fluxed the solder and dipped the balls in the flux with tweezers, set them down and let them dry so they wouldn't boil off the edge on me. Some of them moved anyway, so I'd nudge them back with a solder pick when that happened.

Do you know the location of the lepidolite? I had some from NM that was real gemmy. I bought them as cabs and they are long gone, but I wish I still had some. Maine lepidolite is nice, too.

I was making a piece with very precisely spaced balls that were round. I used a punch to barely place a divot where the balls needed to be. Worked out nicely.

Here is a picture of the sphere this material came from. This is more close to the correct color purple.

That sphere is beautiful! I almost fell of my chair when I saw it. I don't think I've ever seen Lepidolite quite like that before and it is just as pretty in the rough.

That is crazy talent! I wouldn’t dare try anything like that. Excellent work! I doubt it's crazy talent. Not knowing any better, I think it was more like dumb luck!
