I'm planning 2 trips this year, these are our regular vacation trips to visit family. Going to Ohio as usual. However one family member has property in Breathitt County, KY that we are planning to stop by on the way in. Any one do any hounding in that general area? Would like to know whatmay be out there so I can plan space in the car accordingly 😉

That may be a solution for space. That way, you don't have to leave any stone unturned. Edit to add- Large flat rate boxes are your friend and pack flat.

Well, if I had been thinking I would have known that! This is what happens when you start planning things and thinking on an empty stomach.

The two collecting areas I am familiar with in Ohio are Flint Ridge and The fossil park in Sylvania. For Kentucky this might help. I know our local rock club goes down there and collects geodes quite often. www.gatorgirlrocks.com/state-by-state/kentucky.htmlChuck

A bunch of RTH members met up at flint ridge this past summer to collect rocks. I did not attend but have been there in the past. Highly recommended pay to dig site. This link shows some pictures of the summer get together forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/83650/meet-greet-ohio-flint-edition?page=4These are a couple pieces I made from my trip there. Sorry for the large pictures, they are stolen from my ETSY store. Chuck

I have a map for the Coshocton Flint quarries in Ohio. The flint is black, blue, and often fractures are filled with quartz veins. It takes a nice polish and chips well for stone tools. Type Nellie or Warsaw Ohio into your map route and let me know if you want to check it out. Here is a point I made from material I collected there. All the best, Michael
