You know what I hate? Every time the weather is like this, you see the stories of the poor dogs out in the yard on a chain with no cover and frozen over water. Makes me want to punch someone right in the head. Poor things. I remember where one puppy was still alive while his body was frozen to the ground. There is a special place in hell for those morons. Oh yes. My outdoor dog has her luxury accommodations. Insulated dog house with a dog bed and hay. That is inside a double bay, old, but huge garage with an open door, facing south. No snow, rain or ice can get in there. Heated water dishes. Yes, dishes. Extra food. Dirt floors in the garages, which come in handy when the temps are warm. She loves to dig holes in the floors. This 40' by 30' area is her home and she loves it. Has views of my horses and driveway. She does get to run free as well. All she wants to do is play when I go outside today. I did play with her a little, then had to get back inside. She is not an indoor dog and has always been very scared inside. Overheats quickly if temps indoors are above the 40's in Winter. She is a Husky to the hilt. Those with dogs not used to the cold need to take precautions to keep them safe. I even take precautions with my baby when it is cold.

When young the girls got to wear pants under their dress to school when it hit -20. Rescued many people on the road in cold weather with just sneakers on and a light coat. Haven't much sympathy for those who don't respect winter.

Was outside working had to put a warm vest on, 51.3 degrees and bright sun! Unusual weather for Western Oregon. When the climate quits changing, we will be on a dead planet. Has always changed and hopefully it always will. I really hated fighting freezing weather and keeping our cows warm and with water.

51.3?
Sounds like Down Under. Ranchers in western Australia's northern Goldfields shot at least 2,500 thirsty camels in the last month.

It is really not that bad if you dress for it. I would rather have the cold than the friggin snow.

Right now it is -17 and -43 windchill.
I just went outside in basketball shorts and plugged the truck in and put the battery charger on the battery.
Wasn't too bad.

In spite of it all THEY are still successfully selling the Global Warming Hoax. It seems you missed one thing. They abandoned "global warming" a decade ago. Now the fear mongering is about a perfectly natural thing "global climate change". As if the Earth is perfect and change would never happens without human intervention. It's very egotistical of them to suggest such a thing. In fact, the avg temperature has (ostensibly) risen 0.3°C in the last 50 years. All things considered, I judge this to be a remarkably stable situation. Not a catastrophe.

I took them out this morning and they dropped ass real fast. Peed, but that was all they had time for. It is much colder right now. Truck battery froze harder than a wedding boner.

I've been arguing these points for 40 years, hardly anyone understands. Now I just let them have their comfort zone that they survived the great polar vortex of 60 degree ..below wind chill.

Agree completely. Been doing the same. We had mild temps for too long. People become unprepared. I have the -60 wind chills now, but will be staying inside today. Took measures to prepare for everyone outside yesterday. My preps for inside were done within the last 2 weeks. I can only hope that all who were unprepared survive.

We had 18 last night without the wind chill. I know it's not the terrible temps y'all are getting, but we aren't used to such temps. BBBRRRRRR
