Selected a few out of my last Preform batch from 12/31/17; Not sure what these are DSC_0280 by Findrocks, on Flickr Turritella and Unknown DSC_0282 by Findrocks, on Flickr Lajitas mesa Plume and Woodard Plume DSC_0283 by Findrocks, on Flickr Texas Palm and Llanoite DSC_0284 by Findrocks, on Flickr Black Skin Agate(the smudged pattern is in the rock not the picture, strange) and Needle Peak Moss DSC_0286 by Findrocks, on Flickr Two problems, 1) my pictures and how to stage the material is still not where I need to be, and 2) I have lots of material that I cannot identify, when you buy slabs by the bucket full, an identification tag on each is not part of the deal. I like the plumes, but the palm looks neat too. Don't trust my ID, but the cab on the left in photo #1 looks like some Graveyard Point that I have. I got a decent size chunk a while back, and it looks very similar.

The Turitella might not be the most exotic of the bunch but that one is a really nice piece.

The Turitella might not be the most exotic of the bunch but that one is a really nice piece. Chuck I do like the Turitella, something about the suspended critters and the color. Need to cut a couple more slabs so I can make a few more shapes. Finally figured out the trick to cutting this material, a majority of the shells are laid down down flat on one plane so just cut parallel to that plane. Seems obvious to me now but not early on when I cut 3 slabs the wrong way! Doh!!

Nice batch. Is the blue not showing up well in the llanite picture? The llanite I used to pick along the highway outside of Llano many years used to have a lot of intense blue crystals.

Two problems, 1) my pictures and how to stage the material is still not where I need to be, Try setting the White Balance on your camera to "Incandescent" (the little lightbulb icon). The pictures will be bluer, brighter and more natural.

Those are some amazing looking rocks. All from one batch too? I hope I find at least one as good as those some day. Thanks for sharing!

Nice batch. Is the blue not showing up well in the llanite picture? The llanite I used to pick along the highway outside of Llano many years used to have a lot of intense blue crystals. The slab I used did look like the Blue was not as numerous or dark as I have seen in the past. I have two larger pieces of rough that look to be more like what I used to see. The proof will be in the cutting and tumbling. They need to get in line in the slabbing queue!

I am using a Nikon D40? DX?, I am sure that option is somewhere on the menu somewhere.

The dark red one in the second pic is definitely a laguna.

The dark red one in the second pic is definitely a laguna. Notice the "hitchhiker" in that one? Apparently one of the pea gravels I add to any pre-form batch decided to attempt an escape!!Trying to use slightly larger ones now to avoid this sort of thing.
