Finally getting around to mocking up my cabber, and have a couple of silly questions. Bear in mind that I am a complete neophyte; haven't put stone to a wheel (other than some crude shaping on my old hp combo that has a couple hard wheels) in literally 40 years.
I'm trying to figure out the best placement of the edge of the catch basin in relation to the wheels. Looked at the DIY projects and there is huge variation, from an inch or two in front and significantly below wheel centerline, to waaaay out in front.
Sorta looks like it's purely a question of preference?
My thought is to use the edge as a rest, since my hands ain't all that steady.
The basin and shroud will be constructed so that there's some adjustability fore/aft, but height will be more fixed once everything is cut/assembled.
8" wheels.
Would love to hear your thoughts and preferences.
Thanks, Argh

Here's an old 6" Lortone I happened to photograph a few weeks ago, hope it helps. If I were to fabricate one, I would add more space below the wheels than this machine allows. Rest height is def preference, I just get used to whatever or throw a pipe insulator over the edge for at least some padding.
