I've collected custom knives for over 30 years. I know of but don't know much about Jay. The custom knife world is tricky to navigate, somewhat difficult understand. Jay is a knifemaker, he's taking a piece of steel and grinding, called "stock removal", to the shape he wants. He's also a lapidary artist, buying material and shaping it to handle. finally, he is known for well designed sheaths, he makes these out of leather or Kydex, a plastic material.
The prices may seem far out but he obviously knows his market. I've handled knives that sell in the high 5 figures, approaching 6 figures.

I really don't know much about custom knives but I really do like his lapidary work.

Those are nice. I'll look again when I'm home at the larger screen.

Two of the best knifemakers, known for lapidary work are Scott Sawby and Buster Warenski. Scott just retired and Buster passed away in 2005. I've got several of Scott's pieces, never owned a Warenski, his wife, Julie, is a great engraver and has done work for me. Buster and I became friends when I was moving to Utah and he was buying a home in the same area. I was not a rock collector at the time but he asked me to find a certain rock from NJ. Turned out that the rock was found in a very small area and homes were built on the location. I had access to a quarry right beneath the area, talked with the Geologist and he told me nope, nothing in the quarry. Buster recreated the King Tut Dagger, I believe it's valued in excess of one million dollars! One of my Sawby's, Biggs Jasper and Black Jade:

I have one knife that is custom, my Son bought it for me.... It's hard to adjust to having on, because it just stays in my gun safe... Hahaha
