My plants, Tomatoes, Peppers and Eggplants are coming along nicely. Will not put them in the ground until March. Take comfort in knowing that Spring will eventually get here. DSC_0323 by Findrocks, on Flickr

Nothing like a little boast, thanks. I went out to get the paper a little after daylight this morn., raining lightly and freezing as it hit. 3:30 this afternoon we got enough hail to turn the ground white, guess spring will come here someday. I've had peas coming up a few times by this date.

Looks like you have a great head start! I can't wait to get the plants in the ground, nothing beats homegrown. Especially tomatoes 😀

Just remember, by late June my Tomatoes are history, and you probably enjoying very nice evenings while I am out side fighting mosquitos and 90% humidity and a temp that does not drop below 78 degrees until late September!!

You guys are driving me crazy. I am outside of Toronto. I cannot put tomatoes or peppers into the garden until June, due to frost at night. Your plants look lovely. I cannot wait until spring.

Tease!
Your plants look very nice. They should be very productive. Are there specific varieties you favor over others?
Here in WI, This is the start of gardening season. Some spend the next 2 months going over seed catalogs. Also doing layoout sketches of what they will plant where, what greenhouses they will be purchasing plants/seeds from.
It gives us hope of no snow/ice on the ground.

It's ok, miket. Every 10 years or so this happens here. Waiting for the snow to let up for a little so we can go back out and shovel some more. Vince left for work this morning and as he got there, everyone was leaving! So he's back home and I have someone to help me shovel all this white stuff.

Sorry, HankRocks ! Didn't mean to hijack your thread. It was pretty much a hi-jacked thread when I started it!! Besides, your picture just makes for the right contrast to mine.

HanksRocks, what happens to your tomato plants? Blight? Or are they determinate?

HanksRocks, what happens to your tomato plants? Blight? Or are they determinate? Tomatoes on the Gulf Coast do not tolerate the heat and humidity very well, plus they need temps at night below the 70-72 range to set the blooms. After June 1st we never see temps that low until mid Sept. Some of the cherry type will set a few in the heat but even then it's 1 out of 10 maybe. Seed Catalogs keep advertising Tomatoes that set in the Summer heat, unfortunately they never tested them in my area as I have tried several and all failed. For the reasons above I grow determinate varieties except for the cherry type.

Gulf Coast but Pensacola area and several decades ago.

Gulf Coast but Pensacola area and several decades ago. I am actually testing an heirloom variety this year, Black Brandwine. It's a potato leaf variety and suppose to produce large blackish-purple tomatoes. Figured that I could spare 2 or 3 of my plant spaces for it. If I could get all my plants to produce as well my Okra does, I would be giving produce away by the bushel. That and nothing bothers it, birds, bugs, viruses all stay away and it produces from June into early Oct. Every bloom is a pod. And on top of that, I love it....Gumbo, Etoufee, Pickeled...all good to me.
