Hello! I am the VP of the Suncoast Gem & Mineral Society of St Petersburg, FL and today at our (49th!!) Annual Show I was talking to a gentleman as we were both pinching our fingers and spraying water about in a great treasure trove of slabs when he told me about this forum. Always wonderful to find a community of like minded enthusiasts! I joined our club to learn more about identification and got sidetracked into learning how to cab and so I am hoping I can prevail upon y'all to help fill in the blanks on id-ing things! If you ever find yourself in St Pete Florida on the 3rd Thursday of the month September to May do stop in to our General Meeting and check us out at www.sgams.com in the meantime! ROCK ON!

Welcome aboard!
Looks like we missed your show this year - unless we can get there today. Hope it was a good one for your club.
If you're anywhere near Prescott, AZ the first weekend of August stop by our club's show and say hi.

If you're anywhere near Prescott, AZ the first weekend of August stop by our club's show and say hi. Oh! hello back and we did have a great show, thank you! AND, I will be in Sedona the last week of September, so maybe I can (excuse the pun) pick someone's brain there to find some surface collecting sites? (I will be with my sister and she has some mobility issues). And, I am SO not fussy over what there is to find, since I made the decision to retire to the one state without ROCKS! (but, the weather makes up for it) sometimes I just get excited over a bit of sandstone, LOL! Thank you for the welcome!

Hi, and welcome to RTH. Was this gentleman by any chance a long haired fellow named Bob? Hello! I did not catch his name, however, I seem to remember he had on a YODA t-shirt. He told me that this was a great place to buy cabbing slabs, which I have yet to look into.
