Hi Bob. Got your PM just now. How interesting. I would have never guessed or known this had you not followed up on it.
We have a member at RTH with whom I recently corresponded with, who also sources his rocks (self found) from Fallon. I am going to dig up that thread and PM him with your picture of the Pink material.
Maybe he will know something too.
Thank you!
I'm not at all experienced in rock identification, and stuff around here can be amazingly varied, even within a single deposit. But some of those in the video are reminiscent of stuff I have seen identified as coming from the Dead Camel Mountains near here. I haven't explored that area yet as it requires 4x4 to access. (But my truck arrives today, woohoo!) Definitely on my list to explore! I've been told by several sources that there are lots of claims in that area so it will be interesting to see what is accessible.
So, it is a mystery on the Pink Jasper stuff? Well, thanks for the ideas on finding similar material from Fernley. I know where that is, I've stayed there a time or two on my way traveling North.
Nice getting your truck back and being able to explore. I just killed my Jeep a few days ago and am waiting on parts.
Good luck on your explorations!
