So I recently purchased a 10" hi tech slab saw, and though it seems alright, I just dont think it's going to last or withstand the abuse!
And also it sprays water like a sprinkler, regardless of how little water I put in the bottom, and regardless of how I adjust the.... Blade cover 'thingy' to the blade!
It wouldn't be a big deal if I had a nice shop, I don't. My set up is in my spare room.
And when tilting the machine to empty all the water, the things got a bit of flex... So in any case, j have asked hi tech for a refund, and they obliged!
Though it's going to cost me a 15% restocking fee depending on the condition, no biggie though!
(So if anyone wanted to buy it before I send it back next week, it's 15% off and comes with three blades! And is basically brand new!) Not the point of this post though.
So now I am in search of a new saw! I would love to get another 10"! But not a plastic one this time...... Haha
Honestly, I don't know much about lapidary saws or anything! Or many name brands other than Lorton and well, hi tech!
But I would love to hear some suggestions!
I seen a 10" saw recently online that has an auto feed on it! I think it looked pretty sweet! I forget the name of it though, I think it was blue, and had a BM on it maybe? Maybe a BN? I dunno, I might be completely wrong! It also comes with a clear plastic cover for when you do use the auto feed, which would be a huge plus (as I set all my equipment in an empty room in my house)
But it doesn't have to have auto feed. It would just be cool!
I would love to hear all of your suggestions and recommendations!
Thank you all so much! I have been getting some great feedback on all of the questions I've been asking! And learning lots! Some stuff I don't fully understand yet, but I believe I will get there! (The cerium oxides and such, as I haven't really used them, YET!)
The community in this forum is awesome! And am very happy to have found this place!! Thanks in advance for any help!
