Has anyone tried a 5" Blade on this HF 669230 4.5" Tile saw. I measured and it looks like a 5" Blade will fit on it but I am not 100% sure. At John's Gems a 4" and 5" blade is a dollar difference a 5" is $35.00 and a 4" is $34.00 Naturally for that price a 5" would be a better value if it will fit.

At the risk of stating the obvious, measuring the distance from the shaft to the bottom and back of the saw tank will give you your answer. The slot in the saw table top can always be enlarged. Oh and it would be smart to check arbor shaft diameter. Rock on.

You need room for coolant as well. A blade that just clears the sump will not have very much coolant. You will only be able to trim slabs with 4" or 5" anyway. You won't be slabbing rough. I use an MK 145 (4.5" tile saw) with 303C 4" blade. Cuts just under 1" with 4" blade. 5" won't fit mine.

I have one on my hf tile saw, I used a Dremel to grind away some of the plastic. Works great, and with all the rock snot that accumulates,if you need to exchange it for any reason they couldn't tell if it was modified. Mine has lasted for two years so far.

Well my New 5" Blades ca,e today from JS Gems sorry you sold the business John. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do. Anyway I hadn't been back to read everyone's replies I tried to mount the blade and just what you said marinedad I had to remove 1/4" plastic on each side of the blade so it would fit. I was getting alot of splash so I took some 1/6" Neoprene Rubber and made a water Splash Guard. marinedad do you still have that plastic shield over the blade or did you remove it? The damn thing is in my way. I really like the 5" blade over the 4" Blade it cuts really well I cut 35 preforms tonight and all went well. I do Need to modify My HF 16" X 30" Industrial Cart. I need to put in a Drain System to drain in a 5 gal Bucket and mount my HF router speed control But all and all it works great!
