utah pigeon blood agateSorry not to be able to post pictures anymore but the process I was presented with to upload pictures to this site would take an hour or more to complete, and that isn't something that is realistic to ask of people who just want to casually share images. It's like you want to chase people away to Twitter or Instagram? The Utah pigeon blood agates in this tumble originally came from a swap with someone on this site in 2012 (pretty sure) but I no longer remember who it was...

Do you happen to have a smart phone?
I’ve been able to post pictures straight from my iPhone to this board without any third party hosting

I really like Pigeon Blood agates. Have some rough I want to tumble this summer. Yours look great.
It only took me about 15 minutes to set up the cloudinary account and be able to upload photos. After the initial set up, I can just click upload file and drag what I want to upload to that window.
Maybe see if one of the Admins here can help you with set up. there is also a thread under the Technical Help Forum.

It has been mentioned to me by a couple of hounds my son & I have befriended in Utah, that this Agate and other varieties can be collected at Brian Head, the southwest Dixie National Forrest area.........if that is true and attainable, on our next trip to visit our son, we'll add an additional day to the trip and attempt some collection..........?

pizzano - Pigeon Blood agate is found near Green River & Moab, UT. It's very different than what we find at Brian Head, Cedar City, & Panguitch. There are 2 locations for Pigeon Blood, many miles from each other & they are slightly different. One is south of Moab & one is off Floy Rd between Green River & Moab. I've spent some time at both locations. Both are pretty picked over (unless I just don't know where to look). Lynn

I was expecting to see pictures of an injured pigeon from Utah, and I can't decide whether I'm disappointed or not! For pigeon's sake, I'll go with not.

Lynn Thank you Lynn..........What is it then, they referenced as Pigeon Blood agate, found at Brian Head...?
We (family) now have in-laws (my son's wife family) in Cedar City. Thought it would be worth the trek while visiting them on our way up north to Riverton. They're not much into rocks but are familiar with the area of Brian Head.........I always take a bucket, tools, boots and gloves when visiting our boy. Now with a connection in Cedar City, thought we'd take a look around.
Sorry "peachfront" for side-tracking this thread...

Sorry not to be able to post pictures anymore but the process I was presented with to upload pictures to this site would take an hour or more to complete, and that isn't something that is realistic to ask of people who just want to casually share images. It's all a matter of perspective I guess. For several years after I joined the forum we had no options to upload photos and had to find our own 3rd party host and learn how to use it. It was at no fault of the previous admin, the Proboards forum software is not photo uploading friendly. Fast forward to 2019 and we have a free fully integrated drag-and-drop 3rd party photo host called Cloudinary. From my perspective of the way it was before, and from the feedback I get now about the current system, it is the best it's ever been That being said I completely agree that the setup seems like a pain in the ass, but many members have done it successfully. A few have also gotten into the weeds and we were able to guide them to success. I'm available to help if you or anyone else needs me.

On a scale of one to ten I am about a 4 when it comes to computer literacy and have never posted a photo to any kind of forum before doing so here. Following the provided tutorial took me about twenty minutes. Surely someone who has a much greater online presence than I could do much better. Once set up, it is extremely easy and fast to use.

Al The problem is my much greater online presence means I have zero free time to figure out yet another weird picture hosting process that's going to be privatized, shut down, or switched to a paid service a few weeks to a few months later... I already lost the photo I tried to post that's hosted on Twitter but here's another one. I hosted it on Blogger so that probably means Blogger is going to be the next one to collapse after Google-Plus.

I feel for those of you who are in business primarily in the online world, seems like everything changes so fast and just when you get it figured out the rug can get pulled out from under you. Good luck! Al

I'm having the piece in the photo set by a silversmith more gifted than I, when it gets in I'll try to remember to post. I did find her on Instagram. I never shop on ebay anymore, I think a lot of buying and selling has moved to Instagram because there's less BS gaming the system with keywords, feedback extortion, etc.

Here is the finished piece. The silver artist is Rachel Makes Rings from Instagram. I asked her to use as little metal as possible to make it easier to let the light shine through the stone. This is her photo, I need to take my own photo soon. It's much better in person! my best Utah pigeon blood tumble has been set!
