Few rocks from Michigan First two pics are the same rock, banded iron? 3rd/4th pics, I don't see much banding, is it a Laker? Or just some sort of agate? 5th/6th, water playing tricks or is it opal-ly? Odd embossed 'spots' 7th/8th, Quartz and Epidote? Bottom black and red being? Tossed in a nice Puddingstone Thanks

1-2 look like banded jasper to me. 5-6, fossil coral, probably crinoids.
Nice pudding.

The top one for sure is is BIF
The one does not look like a typical LSA
I would cut the one with the blue open for sure!

I agree, Ali... that will be the plan Big pink quartz type thing... Some neat grey color banding stuff. Now to learn how to do something with it if I can.

Maroon/purple and tan striped one looks like Baraboo Quartzite.
The red (dirty) one maybe Basalt with smoky quartz?

Baraboo Quartzite, interesting name- good to have names for things thanks!
I'm currently soaking the dirty one to see if it'll show itself any better. Find out tonight of any progress.

Just do a search for Baraboo Quartzite. There is a lot of variation. Colors range from what I posted to very deep purple, almost black. If you every get the chance, check out Devil's Lake near Baraboo. The trails are loaded with the Quartzite. As are the cliffs near the lake. The trails go over the rocks and down to the lake.

What a wonderful treasure trove of stuff! I am quite the amateur and will not offer up any id information other than to remark that the reddish "dirty" rock with the crystals reminds me so of the matrix around Herkimer diamonds. Diamonds in the rough stuff!

Michigan Greenstone is also found in that red Basalt matrix, so keep picking up those red rocks.
