Finally got around to taking some better photos of this 4" rock I found. Hope the photos tell, but it appears to have some moss agate, some Quartz, some Jasper in it. Reds, purples, whites, yellows and grays. As of now, I am calling it a glacial deposit from the Niagara Escarpment. I love the patterns and colors. Thanks.

fernwood I think Spielberg said it best. May the Quartz be with you. Either quartz or quartzite.

I liked the vivid colors and loads of oolites.

Interesting. Even though there are areas of opaque material and the surface is not grainy there? Wish I could post some photos of the mossy areas, but exceeded max # of photos allowed. Those areas are really beautiful, but lost in the larger photos.
Learned something new. Have some quartzite, that is pretty plain.
Thanks.

It could be oolitic quartzite (least likely), oolitic chert, oolitic calcium carbonate... really hard to say what it is. Unless you have plans for the rock breaking off a piece to show an UN-weathered surface could help figure it out.

It is not that weathered. Some of the surface is waxy. I hope to saw it within a couple of months.
