I am captivated by the visual appeal of ammonites and have read all that I can find about searching for them in Oregon. I wouldn't presume to ask anyone for specific advice about their "secret spot" but would love to hear from folks with a similar interest. I have only found small fragments thus far but that is probably because my search is relatively new. I've recently been out towards Izee and hoped to make it to Delintment Lake but ran out of time, so I have nothing to show at this point.
I have also expressed my interest in carving gemstones to create an ammonite and have posted about that elsewhere on this site. I clearly have a fixation with this particular critter and hope that I am not alone with that particular affliction.

We found a small one a qualified friend said is ~135m yrs. old, isn't curled up yet, very early one. Found it at the Seneca, OR rock pit, right behind the gun range at S.W. edge of town. We were shown some other pieces found there by the wife of a resident we talked with. Found 7-7-07.

That a really nice specimen! Love the color. Some in sandstone about halfway between Seneca and Paulina, but never thought to look along that part of 395 when passing through there.

Seriously never have found any ammies in Oregon yet.... I'm mostly into Montana and South Dakota ammies… Looks like they gave you some great clues on where to go to hound them... Good luck!

Still haven't hounded them yet, the covid crap hit and just don't get to the coast as much anymore... Kids moved from Beverly Beach to Toledo, so no excuse to go to the beach.. Gggrrrrr LOL
