Nice job on those. Didn't know what to expect when I saw the title - soft stuff.

Did you just use the 1000 AO as an only step or a couple before as with other rocks? Look great.
Is this totally different than white howlite? I like those and these and remind me of each other.

Great results on those. The photos show just enough shine.

These were run through every stage. I only use 1000AO when I deem it necessary, usually on softer materials. While they do look similar, they are not related. Check out "Howlite and Magnesite Are Often Confused" towards the bottom of this page: rocktumbler.com/rough/magnesite.shtmlAl

Great results on those. The photos show just enough shine. Thanks, although after looking at the photos now I wish I would have tried some other colors for the background. With the grey it looks like I was trying to be Ansel Adams . Oh well, I'm more interested in playing with the rocks than photographing them at this point. Al

That is good looking material. You always seem to find a lot of really good rocks to polish. They have a lot of character to them, really. Even though they are monochrome, I would like to find some so that I could make some cabs from it. The last rock is my favorite.
I bet that some of the rock tumbling regulars (you know who you are) that turn out especially outstanding photo shoots of their work, would have some great camera tips for you with this type of subject.

Thanks Bill. We did have a few slices that we ran through the whole process that will probably be ground into cabs now that we know what to expect. I'm a big fan of contrast so I really like how these look displayed next to some of our more colorful work. Al
