So, sharing with my friends here. I have been able to use my fingers much for months. Only have gross motor ability in my hands. Been using vice recognition for posts here. Then going back and editing with a stick.
Yes, loss of hand use is a nightmare for me.
I can still work, care for animals and myself. Drive. Do the tumbles. Anything that does not require bending fingers much.
Would appreciate any good thoughts and prayers. Thanks

That's terrible. At least you are adapting but it stinks that you have to do that. Sending prayers and positive vibes to you.

Not meaning this to diminish what you're going through but for me a "worst nightmare" scenario would involve losing FAR more important things like my eyes ... or colon/sphincter. The list of what you describe that you CAN do is a pretty good basis to be thankful I would say. I'm also suffering from diminished use of my hands and forearms due to a combination of severe tendinitis (over-use) and arthritis in my fingers but I've taken an extended break from cabbing and it is helping but one wrong move and it painfully reminds me that the conditions are still there. What also seems to be helping is using CBD oil and drops which have natural anti-inflammatory properties. Don't know if you have access to CBD in Wisconsin - if not, it's a damn shame.

Sorry to hear that, Beth, but it begs the question- Why? And, will it subside?

Carpal tunnel? Sounds scary - hope your doctors are on top of this.

Thanks for the support.
Going for a treatment today. It is spinal issue that is much worse when sitting down. Comes and goes. Been getting progressively worse over the past month.

I hope they get to the bottom of it and take care of it for you. It has to be scary not knowing if it is permanent. I have nerve damage from sacroiliitis. Not fun.

Referral for spinal decompression. Have to wait to see if it is approved.

Sorry to hear this Beth. I hope you can get it sorted out and regain lost abilities. I can relate a little since my thumb joints are worn out and I'll be getting them rebuilt next year. Time isn't kind to our bodies. Courage and patience to you.

Chiro was able to adjust things enough to remove the numbness. Then worked on hands. Appt. was almost double my normal ones. She expects the results to last a few days.
Hand movement is so important, but at least I am ambidextrous, which helps a little.
Rubbing calendula salve on my hands and then wearing gloves helps some.

So far, so good. Have partial fine motor control of hands. Still cannot bend upper knuckles, but being able to move the middle ones at times really helps. The numbness comes and goes.

Beth try CBD oil or cream
I recently tried some for my elbow and hands and I am as now a believer.
Jury is still out on how it responds long term but I can tell you right now it is amazing.

Yes, I've heard a lot of good things about cbd oil. My SIL used it for an injured rib and she swears it took the edge off and helped her regain some movement.

Yes. this is on my list. My chiro has some THC free CBD oil that can be used topical or ingested. Give me a month and I will have it. Till then using what I have for other treatments, but not taking any pills.
