Good day. I knocked on a few doors here at the RTH, to see if anyone could help me out here, but thought I would create a general post.
Do you know where I can find new bearings for the Raytech 8" Gem Maker - GSP-8A, grinder?
There is no issue coming from the pulley wheels or the motor. And it appears that there is not much wrong with the 2 bearings on the main shaft.
Here is some pictures:
Now, they don't have any play in them. And i don't think they are coming apart, from what I can see.
Based on my experience with bearings, these look to be non-serviceable, sealed cartridge bearings.
I looked, and they dont look servicable.
But while one of them is silky smooth, the other, I can feel the bearings. And that means the bearing will fail in a while.
Something like this, looks very close: The OD is not exactly close, and that matters. The ID is 1 inch. They don't look too wide.

But they might work. Just want a better opinion.

I found metal shavings at the basin of the grinder the other day, and while it turned out to be some material removed form my aluminum dop stick, it prompted me to open things up and look at the bearings on the grinder.

They are rubber on the outside, like a soft tire. Probably to reduce vibration in the unit.
They are the following:
Inside Diameter - 1" (main shaft is one inch)
Outside Diameter - 2 & 5/8 " exactly. Originally I thought they were 2". They are larger.
Width of the bearing - 1 & 1/16 " almost exactly. But close to 1" for government type of work.

=================== Additional Information ===============
I just went out and had a more complete look. It is hardly legible, and I had to play with dirt, water for about 30 minutes at an odd angle, but I am positive the bearings are:
KOYO Japan RA/RH 05C
I looked around, but I cannot find them anywhere. But that is what they are exactly.
The rubber part is perfect, if I have to reuse them. The bearing part is not.

=================== Also ================
I will probably need some shims (spacers) for the 1" shaft. I am pretty sure that I will have to work with a bearing that is not the exact same as what I have now, which will necessitate other spacers of various widths. And I have none at all right now.
Any help would be appreciated.
Also, I am including a ping to both catmandewe (Tony), and johnjsgems as well. Just in case they might know.
Thank you all for your time!
