So I went ahead and sent my qt66 motor in to get repaired- do I need to wash out the barrels while waiting for it to come back so I don't have a big solidified chunk in each one, or would they be ok?

I'm not a QT66 user but my first thought was to clean them out so they are ready when the motor comes back. What happened to the motor by the way?

I have let stuff sit for 3 months in my QT66. Just put those barrels back on the tumbler for a coupla hours and you will be back where you left off.

I was adjusting the motor to get more tension on the belt and when I tightened the nut the end of the bolt snapped off inside of the nut. They must be cheap bolts, I wasn't putting much force into tightening it.

When I bought my QT66 tumbler, I also ordered an extra belt. Been tumbling for 2.5 years with it so far and haven't needed the spare belt yet. I remember the V belt to run a little loose and shed a fair amount of rubber powder inside the cover.

Whether I actually NEED to or not, if my barrels are shut down for any length of time, I clean them out. That way, when they're started up again with everything fresh, I'm in control of the run and know exactly what's going on - I am simply not hoping that things will be okay. Thant's just me.

I remember the V belt to run a little loose and shed a fair amount of rubber powder inside the cover. Weird. I've only been running mine for 8 months or so. It kept stopping for no reason, I would give it a nudge and it would run for hours then stop again. That's why I thought the belt was loose and moved the motor over a little bit. Guess I'll see what happens when I get it back.

Just put ‘em in the back of the pickup and let ‘em roll around till you get the motor back. : )
