One of my friends was in Ruidoso and stopped into a Realtor's office. The Realtor happened to be an avid rock and mineral collector. This was sitting behind his desk. The Realtor said it was Sandstone from Illinois, it's about 12" X 18". Anyone ever seen anything like this? DSCN0309 by Findrocks, on Flickr

Yes its a banded sandstone, called locally by some here in WI "zebra sandstone" or "giraffe sandstone" which can be found in Wildcat mound in Clark co WI. Weathering gives it the mottled interesting patterns.
