What might this thing be? Might be some faint banding spots. Coral? Wood? Jasper? It's smooth in spots. I think it needs to be cut in half!

It has the waxy appearance of an agate. I do see banding also, try just squaring up the side in picture #2. That should give you a good look at the structure. In half may cause you to lose a good cab or two.

That's probably expected, I'm still at the zero cab mark lol. Someday and at that point I'll likely get more mindful with cuts and such. I have no clamp or vise on the tile saw, will come when getting a rock saw.
Haven't had a chance to cut into it yet, sometime this week!

Both look like iron stained chert/jasper which is very a pretty common find in the great lakes region. There would need to be some concentric banding patterns visible to call them agates (hard to find especially that size). I like the first one with the quartz lined cavity and the darker red color. Nice finds, keep looking.

Thank you:) I was expecting more out of the second one I posted, perhaps in other cuts. The red one looks like fossil, agatized? Last dirty pic looks like partially agatized(or chert?) Petoskey or coral, hexagonal shapes on the top. First I've seen like this with the white and yellow.
