So I finally got a load in the 3lb rotary through polish- it was a mix of tumbles and cabs. Not very good pics, snowing here today so I took them inside. My main focus today will be pics of the cabs but I did want to show a couple of interesting ones. The first individual pic is a Fairburn that I posted forever ago. Yes, it has cracks and pits but I'm pulling it. I'm happy with the way it is-I thought the entire stone was going to fracture and lose the patterns. Thanks for looking.

Nice shine. No problem leaving a couple fractures on a rock like that. The only issue is cleaning the trapped grits but you must have done a good job of that since your end product looks great.

Looks like you did well.
As much as I'd always like to have perfect rocks, it doesn't always happen. If I really like a rock, and it has some flaws, I'll still keep it in the process. As you're beginning to note, some material can only give you so much. No sense losing features that you like while trying to get rid a few small pits or cracks that may never go away or continue to form.

I’m new to tumbling myself and am just beginning to learn this as well. Otherwise I kept running them in hopes, but then wound up with a bunch of useless tiny pebbles.
