en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_saving_timeGeorge Hudson proposed the idea of daylight saving in 1895.[3] The German Empire and Austria-Hungary organized the first nationwide implementation starting on April 30, 1916. Many countries have used it at various times since then, particularly since the 1970s energy crisis. DST is generally not observed near the equator, where sunrise times do not vary enough to justify it. Some countries observe it only in some regions; for example, parts of Australia observe it, while other parts do not.[4] Only a minority of the world's population uses DST; Asia and Africa generally do not observe it. DST clock shifts sometimes complicate timekeeping and can disrupt travel, billing, record keeping, medical devices, heavy equipment,[5] and sleep patterns.[6] Computer software often adjusts clocks automatically, but policy changes by various jurisdictions of DST dates and timings may be confusing.[7]

You got my vote, too! Why is it that 74% of the population would like to end daylight savings time, yet no politician will stand up to the plate and make it happen?
Why pets hate it:
Tell me again why we still do this??!
And the truth is:
ETA - Had to add one more -

DST rules! You don’t like it, move to Arizona. At one point, there were 23 different pairs of daylight saving start and end dates in the state of Iowa. There was also a bus route that ran between Moundsville, W. Va., and Steubenville, Ohio, that saw passengers changing time zones seven times in only a 35-mile stretch.

I don't care either way about DST. I can stay or go, makes no difference to me. I've been dealing with it all my life- habit now.

Was thinking of you, captbob, when I posted the dog memes. (You know they can tell time, lol.) My sister's chocolate lab totally resents having to wait for her dinner! You're welcome for the memes. Just some I picked up online this morning. There were a buttload of Bernie memes! He is so easy to pick on.

That link really doesn't support your view. If the only thing stopping the powers that be from ending it is which way to go (forward or back), just shows you how screwed up their priorities are. Doesn't too much matter which way it goes, just flip a freaking coin, for Chrissakes!

It should be a personal or company decision if they want to get up 3 hours early or 2 hours late, Not THE GOVERNMENT!

Most of the squawking I see and hear is from the standard time crowd.
YMMV.

After falling back one hour, my cat repeatedly jumped on my lap and told me it was time for her to go to bed, and that I was late with the bedtime ritual of carrying her to her bedroom (den). I don't care which time system we follow, but it is helpful if we stick to one or the other, not both.

I always hated DST when I lived in Chicago. Took me a couple of weeks to adjust. Now that I'm in AZ, I don't have to deal with that bullsh*t.

I realize the time change was almost a week ago, but I just had to add to this thread.
Was talking with my sister the other day about this. I mentioned to her that it seems to me the holdup in ending DST is deciding which way to go, DST or STD time.
She said, why not split the difference? Genius!!
The entire country of China has ONE Time zone - Beijing Standard Time
And we are quibbling about an hour one way or the other...

Many places are already off by half an hour but I doubt any of ‘em have much use for whiny yank time refugees.
