One I pulled out to check on the shine after a day of polish in the Lot O. Best of the litter most likely. I will upload the rest when they are done with polish stage.

Nice shine already! What kind of stone is it? It looks a bit like fluorite to me. This is the first stone I have ever tried to identify so I may be completely wrong. I'm sure some of you know exactly what it is.
A google image search for polished green fluorite yields some almost identical pictures.

Gorgeous stone! I'm hoping to find some of those on my travels. Thanks! I found this one my first time out rockhounding near a small reservoir surrounded by wheat fields.
I bet you find quite a few stunning specimens quickly now that you are learning (or maybe relearning) what to look for.
For me they seem to be everywhere, and I have to try NOT to look for rocks. lol. I always end up with a rock or two in my pockets any time I walk anywhere.

You're right! It's going to be especially important for me to keep my cargo pants handy. If it gets too bad, I'm gonna have to find a heavy duty backpack. I suspect I'm gonna find a bunch of mehs before finding some WOOOOOS!
I haven't had a chance to go hounding yet. Soon! Sooooooonnnn.

Rocks of worth are everywhere I look it seems.

I took them out of polish about 3 hours before the 4 day mark and updated the second post with the new pictures. Enjoy

Wow, lots of pretty yellow in those rocks. I wonder what causes that?

Those are awesome! I love the ones that look like they've got lightning flashing across them.
We picked up a bunch of stuff on a hike this weekend. Going through, it looks like quartz was the most interesting, but there's something that could turn out well too with a polish. Unless it's too soft.

Those are all real pretty stones, with the first post being the star of the show. It looks like an Agate, due to it being translucent. I really like the olive green in that stone as well. Some of the other stones you chose to tumble are more challenging types of rock (in my experience). Both hard to get defect free (read undercutting, pitting, etc), and in the ability to get a shine on them. You have done better than I have in both respects. Great job.
I haven't tried dry tumbling media yet, but some day I hope to. Probably on some of the softer stones I have. I bought some Walnut, but have not put it in to practice yet.

The first stone used to be all green inside, but turned a deep purple except for the outer part on the day my dad had to go to the ER. Wild. Coincidence? Oxidation, chemical reaction?
I knew they might be hard to get a shine on, but I was very determined. About half my batch weren't in the pictures because they did not take a shine that I would call acceptable. I'll experiment on them
