Something interesting from the show yesterday. A vendor had Ammonite earrings and pendants. They had a crocheted wire wrap. The Ammonites were about 1.25". Earrings were $15.00 and pendants $10.00. Nice quality with lots of patterns and flash. The vendor with fossils had some rather plain looking Ammonite fossils. They were priced at $20.00. 1.25" in size. I was tempted to purchase a couple pairs of earrings, take them apart and re-use the materials. Since I really do not know the going rate for Ammonite fossils that size, I did not. Fossilman could you share any pricing info? Often, I purchase items at thrift stores/garage sales to re-purpose the materials from. Was wondering how many others do this?

My wife bought cabochons where she liked the material but not the shape. I've recut some of those and may do more in the future. I've bought tumbled slabs and recut as cabochons. Frequently a nice piece of material could be put to better use.
