I just picked up a bucket full of Bakers Ranch. Some have been cut, some not yet. One is really large. Not sure it is Bakers. I'll post a picture of it soon

A 200 pound egg that I acquired from an estate. I think it may be from the Warm Springs, Oregon area.

There is a site on Face Book called Thunderegg Enthusiasts, its a great site and lots of information from the people on the group... Yes, I know some people who are regulars there. Too bad that you have to sign onto FB to even view, which isn't going to happen. A 200 pound egg that I acquired from an estate. I think it may be from the Warm Springs, Oregon area. Wow, that's a big un. On rare occasions still come across Warm Springs eggs when someone from one of the tribes decides to get interested in digging them - though not as big as that. Impressive!

I know a guy that digs these eggs in that area (Warm Springs), yes he lives on the Res.. Digs for only the pleasure of finding and cutting the material - He has found some beauties... Goes by the name of Elkie. He wants to gather enough material to open a small museum there..

Leave no egg uncut!!! Well, mostly anyway. I have large cluster of Buchanan eggs that I have cut yet. Still trying to figure out how to do it. Some of the best ones that I have gotten from Richardsons, had the cap pop' ed off.

I am by no means an authority, however I would say Baker's Ranch. A lot of those have the extra smaller crystal pockets. I just cut 15 Choyas, Thundereggs, and White Skin Brazilians trying to set up Lap polishing stock for the Clear Lake Rock Show in Feb and hopefully the Deming Show in March. If I get my act together will have some pictures. Henry

Some of the best ones that I have gotten from Richardsons, had the cap pop' ed off. I have a triple Choyas that I set aside while pondering how to clamp and cut it. It's too big for the Geode Holder. That and there is a bunch of buckets of Choyas & Thundereggs in the "Bone Yard" that are just waiting for their turn on the Saw and the Lap. Too dang many rocks, too little time. Henry

This not a Thunderegg, it's a Walker Ranch Biscuit. It's about 4 inches in diameter and was only about 1 inch thick. I had glued it to a piece of 4X4 and had cut one end off the next slice exposed the pocket of quartz crystals. Decided to stop the cuts and polish it as a flat geode on the Vib Lap after weighting it. Took a nice polish. I suspect there could have been red plumes under the crystal pocket, but why mess this up. IMG_1007 by Findrocks, on Flickr
