My mom loved to paint. One day she packed up her easel, paints, brushes and went to Luckenbach to sit under the trees and paint. She painted for a while then went inside to get a beer and in walks Willie with his guitar slung over his shoulder. There were a couple other pickers there and they had a jam session. She was the only other person there besides Hondo. She never made it back outside to finish her painting. Sat inside, sipped her beer and was treated to a private concert. She said Willie said hello to her and ask if there was a song she would like to hear. Don't remember what she asked him to play - probably Crazy or Nite Life. How cool is that? My mom was pretty unflappable, but she came home all excited about that.
Good thing I wasn't there cause if he asked me what I wanted to hear, I'd probably still be reeling off names of songs! LOL!

Nothing like a good pipe organ. I used to play cello and had the opportunity to hear the pipe organ at a concert I played at once. Fell in love with it the first time I heard it. I bet that was an extremely moving experience Doc.

Otter I cannot begin to describe the experience. It was back in the early '70's, the cathedral was perfect for deep sound. The acoustics were great, the organ flawless, and Eugene was just having fun and playing it how he felt it should be. I remember it to this day.

For years I had an Chritmas album (yes, the vinyl kind) that I got as a kid, that had a version of "Carol of the Bells" done on a pipe organ. I could listen to it over and over and never grow tired of it. I''m sure it must have driven my parents crazy when I lived at home. Didn't have to be Christmas, I just loved the sound, it moved me. My S.O.B., dumb as a bag of hammers ex-husband actully claimed it was his when we split and wouldn't give it back. Don't get me started Anyway, I just loved it cookie
