Being here in Napa we are kind of thinking along the lines of a simple grapevine theme for the wrought iron decoration. Nothing ridiculous, we aren't the type that do a lot of decoration as you can see - just something simple to match the post capper lights and the cedar door hardware. Kind of like this but it would have to be custom sized to fit the door opening... Some other starting point ideas from Etsy...

Check out Irish Iron in Sac. They are the only ones I know off the top of my head.
Also check habitat for humanity.

Here's another thought... If you run another board across the top of the two posts, you would create a rectangular "box". You could put two of these into the corners: Then in the middle part of the box that would be open, you could have y'alls last name routed into a board (matching the color of the gate or fence) and have that hanging from a couple hooks. You take a torch and burn the routed out letters, then sand the surface of the board, so it leaves the letters burned.

Thanks Robin! Funny that I never even thought about the one on Soscal ave, I drive by there all the time. From outside the business it just looks like they do giant stuff like gates and such but I will shoot them a call and see if it's something they feel like quoting on.

You reminded me of a pipe-fitter I worked with back in the '70's om the coal fired powerhouses. He was an Acetylene Torch Artist! They planed four units, but only built two. Someone told the powers that be who and what he was, and he never did a lick of work as a fitter. THEY would haul in sheet after sheet of 1/2" X 8'X8' steel plate and he spent his days whacking out whatever THEY wanted for their ranch gates - cowboys on bucking horses, Stagecoaches, huge dragonflies, coiled rattlesnakes, butterflies, - you name it and he would soapstone out the image in a few minutes and start cutting. I don't think this is one of his >

Just an update - we just now pulled the trigger on a custom piece from this Etsy store. www.etsy.com/shop/SunsetValleyDesignsThis is how it looks on paper - we are excited to see it in person in a few weeks. It's shipping from Canada but freight wasn't too bad - just $35. Chris and Matt have been a real pleasure to work with and due to the intricate nature of the design they were worried if it would be stable enough so they upgraded to thicker steel at no extra cost which was awesome.

That is SICK! (The good kind!) Now I'm stoked to see pictures of it once you get it!

That is going to look so cool! Thanks Robin, I hope you're right. I ended up buying an art file from my favorite source colourbox.com and photoshopped it.

Thanks for the graphic source, too! I love that site and they are good people too. When I was first making the RTH store I bought a subscription to get the lowest per image cost meaning to stop the subscription after like two months. Me being me I forgot to cancel until I saw another month charge go through but I contacted them and explained the situation and they were totally cheerful about it and refunded the money and stopped the subscription.
