I don't think the first one's a coprolite, but the second one is. The Handleys up in Washington or Oregon used to dig those. They once showed me a rhino poo, about 1 1/2 feet in diameter.

I found almost by accident a super source for vibratory tumbler's Cabela's. Yes, the outdoor outfitter. I picked up a UV 18 standard sized tumbler (not the industrial lapidary one) for $165 new at the Fort Worth store. Kudos to the manager, since they did not have it at the store, he had it shipped overnight to me FREE from another store since I was planning on buying one that day, and had driven over 1 hour to pick it up there. They have a wide line of vibratory tumblers at good prices. They won't be a source for grits, etc., or even know how to use them, but the prices are good. www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/index/index-display.jsp?id=cat20853A few notes, I fooled around with the less expensive ones, the Cabela's brand vibratory tumbler wasn't super strong in the bowl as compared with the Lyman or Thumler's. The Lyman tumblers are pretty decent looking for those looking to tumble smaller sized loads, but I'd personally get one for grit, one for polish. Don't get the ones with auto-flow, it's not a solid bottom bowl and abrasive flow would probably get FUBARed. also, they sell a collapsible cart that's perfect for lugging home your monster rocks, I plan on getting me one of these SOON! www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?type=pod&id=0020698

I think those are 20 pounders or larger, the top ones may be 40 pounders. Even the small one has the bolt tops.

that's the tumbler set up I want! What's the HP of the motor on it? I've been designing one very similar to that, even with the chain drive.

Almag is AWFUL SMELLING! It's hard to get off rocks too. And when you get it on your skin, you smell like it for days. Your family won't appreciate the smell either...
Personally, I use farm transmission fluid. It's easy to get off the rocks, and it doesn't stink up the garage.

I noticed that the Lyman tumbler is much cheaper. They have it on Cabelas.com for super cheap prices.

Iron Out is great, by the way, to get rust stains off any crystals. I use it all the time, it has tons of uses. Several of which are very fun to use, but which will remain a secret

muriatic shouldn't hurt the crystals too much. I've used it to etch emeralds from marble. What is the host rock the emeralds, etc. are in?

those are Acrocanthasaurus tracks. Think Spinosaurus from Jurassic Park 3 and you'r enot too far off.
Incidentally, two guys I went to grad school with at UT researched dino tracks. The 'man tracks' there with the reversed foot arches are actually ankylosaur tracks.

Llano by car is almost 4 hours from here. Don't bother with the topaz ranches, most of it's been found and they now salt the mines with Brazilian topaz. I know this for sure, they buy it from an old time rock shop out that way that recently closed, and he was always asking me for it.
If you head out to the Sulphur River around Ladonia, you can find mosasaur bone, which will cut and polish. I have a site for septarians inside Dallas, but they're so big you can't fit one inside your luggage, a whole one weighs close to a half ton if not MUCH more. Pretty much only fossils within 2 hours of here.

Neat site! I didn't know about that one.
Hey, I have an idea. With all the people here, would it be possible to have an auction for rocks on this board? We would definitely have a targeted audience.
