For reals? Where could one purchase yard ornaments such as these? I LOVE it! My neighbors, and, indeed, the city council, would have an absolute sitz-fit siezure! LOL!

Yeah ..... about that incident with the ex-gov of the great state of Texas (yup, I are wun) .... I have often wondered: if Tricky Ricky was really out running, in his silk running shorts, tank top, and tennies, where did he conceal that gun? Oh, and it was reported to be a .380, not a .45. Because it'd be illegal for him to strap a holster on and carry it open, you know. And unless he has a CCL, it'd be illegal to conceal it as well. So, exactly where did he have it hid? I suspect I know where - the same location from which sprang some of his ideas - someplace the sun don't shine - but I'll never tell.
Yores in spirit,
Old Tom

You got lucky. We've only hit 100 around 16 times so far this year. Way better than last year! (down in ole San Antone) Sure could use some rain, though. The aquifer is the lowest it's been in over 20 years. We still got plenty of water in it, but the darn cave beetles or whatever might suffer, so we do without.

Hey, Snuffy! Yeah, I'm not in the hobby any more, but I still lurk here pretty much daily. Seems like the older I get, the more irons I get into the fire. Now I don't really have time for hobbies, what with 6 grandkids to watch grow up, and other relatives that need to be taken care of daily. I just always enjoyed this forum, and still do.

The first one looks like a Texas bluebonnet to me. I think they're pretty much done blooming here, in south central Texas.

Since this is the normal wild turkey nesting season, my guess is that you just got too close to a horny old (relatively, since they only live 3 or 4 years on average) tom trying to gather a harem, and he just naturally took offense. I woulda liked to have seen a video of that encounter, though - it would have probably made not only the 5:00 news, but also would have a few hundred thousand hits on youtube! Tom

It's really very sad to observe the lengths to which the big box stores (and online merchants as well) will go to avoid the mention of "Christmas" in their commercials and advertising. Sad and disgusting. I refuse to patronize any retailer that refuses to recognize that it's "THE CHRISTMAS SEASON" and "THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS", not the "winter" version.
And no, I don't give a rat's patootie if this offends anyone - they can shove it as far as I'm concerned.
My $0.02.

I was in an aircrew debriefing room in headquarters at Bergstrom AFB, Austin, Texas. They went to a high alert status and locked us in for a few hours. We were all excited and scared. Excited because it broke the boredom, scared because we thought we were going to war. We didn't know why we were on alert until later.
Yep, I'm older'n dirt.

Congrats on the gorgeous homestead! I'm quite jealous of the notion of building a rock shop in the basement. We don't have basements here in South Texas! Mainly due to the high cost of the explosives experts required to blast the hole in the limestone!

Jergens Lotion: my grandma used it on her hands constantly, and that's the earliest olfactory memory I have. I remember putting my head in her lap during church service and going to sleep with that smell of Jergens .... OMG, that was close to 70 years ago!

I got mine from "bfdgems" on ebay - the part number is 200-006 (that's a Lortone number, by the way). I don't know if he'll still have any, but worth a shot, I think.

Here's what I consider to be probably the best source: therockshed.com/partslortone.html I doubt you'll find a used one - I have only the 3, and I'm keeping them! In fact, all 3 are tumbling even as we speak. Hope this helps! Tom

And here we have the other extent of the pendulum - we have a sorely needed, $100 million-plus highway improvement project that is in the crapper because someone found an endangered spider in one of the holes they dug. I mean, I'm all for wildlife conservation, within limits, but this is just asinine!
