Nice cabs Mel. If you use diamond paste for your polish, you don't have to worry about cleaning anything out of the druzy pockets or anywhere else for that matter.

That will work Randy, just don't use a colored sheet!!!!!!! hahahaha!!!! If you're going to make it out of wood, you can also use a diffuser panel available at Home Depot. You'll have to experiment with what type of material works best for you. For lights, I'm using 2 "Natural Daylight" CFL's, 75w equivalent.

Well, I'm a little late and don't have any pics to show, but I can tell you it was an honor to meet Adrian and his family. Our time was short, but will be remembered for a lifetime. My wife and I and rocklicker and his wife met at their Hotel and exchanged gifts and then went to a San Francisco landmark restaurant called Tommy's Joynt and enjoyed a meal and a beer. I'm glad they are still meeting up with more RTH members.

Hey Sheri, don't be taking all the good stuff before I get a chance to get back down there! Is it still a pile above ground level, or is a pit now? ?? You picked up some nice pieces.

Nice cab! If the banding was bright blue, I would say it looks a lot like Marge Simpson from the side!!!!

A while back Steve posted a pic asking what type of rock he had and my eyes almost popped out of my head when I saw it was a 20lb chunk of Guadalupe poppy jasper. Long story short, we made a trade and just last week I decided to get my 18" saw running again and took a couple of slabs off to see how it looked inside. Other than the obvious fractures, the rest of the rock is solid and has a wide variety of colors. I'm always looking for this material and the largest I've ever seen was around 4", and just in slabs, never a chunk that big. Okay, so here's the slab. Notice it's sitting on top of a compact disc case for size reference. And a close up.

Throw the loupe away and use your fingers! If you feel a flat spot, you've got scratches! Chrysocolla isn't an easy stone to work, so I'd say you did a great job on this one.

$500 for the plume egg? ?? Any takers? Just kidding, that one is going into my personal collection. Susan, believe it or not, most of these are already sold and shipped off to become pieces of jewelry. Thanks for all the nice comments. I wish I had more time to spend on the board, but life is getting in the way these days and it seems like time is just flying.
