Really quite simple when you get it all laid out, 7/16 and 1/2 wrenches will get it done. I didn't show anything about the spring because mine is stretched too.
"The best" likely a matter of opinion, thanks, this is what we on the forum do for each other.

Learn something new, whether worthwhile or not, every day. From what I've seen concrete floors and river rocks in a fire ring do, I think I'd be wearing a bomb suit.

Here's some pics. of the feed parts: This is the plate that bolts to the back of the sled Split nut, holes in bottom of nut bolt to, and pivot on, the two holes in the bottom of the plate. Here is the lever: The lever is bolted to, and pivots on, the left side of the split nut. On the right side of the split nut is a 1/4" bolt with a roller on it, the lever pushes on the roller. The lever, where it bolts to the split nut, is 3/8" thick. I'm going to trace the lever on the graph paper and snail mail it to you with a few notes on it, still have your address. Hope this helps. I'll do it in the morning. The clamps are mounted to a plate that bolts on the sled.

@shotgunner, if you want, I can take the lever off my Frantom that fossilman passed on to me and send you an accurate tracing of it. I tried to get the whole assy. off the machine this A.M., but need to do a lot of rust busting before that.

I made my large tumbler barrels out of 12" PVC pipe [7/16" wall] with flat UHMW plastic for the ends, fixed end attached w/drywall screws and removable end held down with 1/4" hanger bolts. I have two 8", 1/2" thick barrels [2 1/2 gallon capacity] built that I would like to pass on to someone. jamesp builds nice 6" barrels, look up his posts.

I would be much more concerned about rock grit getting in the sliding ways of a machine designed for cutting metal, than if it rusts. Likely machines used for cutting granite by milling are purpose built. Any cutting fluid would need to be carefully filtered, or better yet, not recycled in the machine. I've seen floor dry [kitty litter] raise havoc with sliding ways and coolant filters on CNC machines.

Great job, I've been looking up a lot of stuff on the web recently, and so many sites by much larger companies are really hard to navigate, yours so easy. Very complete and well done.

Very nice refurb., and now very durable. I wish we didn't live so far apart, that powder coat job was cheap, I'd be dealing with your guy. Shop near here wants either your firstborn or your skin. I think he makes lampshades out of the skin.

That jasper is from an old weathered out vein, now some really big rocks. Takes a long day to hike up to it, chip off a pack full, and get back down to the road. Very steep, exhausting day. The collection method limits pieces to maybe 5 lbs. practical maximum, most smaller.

Lee, ya gotta be careful, 51 gallons of water all at once might create a flash flood. Agree, control just for the sake of control.

Like a nice outhouse, thanks for the pics.
My mother lived with her folks and worked in Springfield, OR during the time dad was serving in WW2. During that time, the city put sewage into that area, and granddad moved the outhouse out near the garden for a tool shed. Mom said many times the city reps. would stop by and tell him he couldn't have an outhouse anymore. They finally quit stopping by after he had shown probably all of them it was now a tool shed.

My wife and I both like that a lot, thanks for the pic. and description. I think she is going to try talking me into helping with a similar project.

Yep, lots of petty government here, little wannabee's exerting power over people who are no more than wanting to make a go of life, and not hiding things in the process. As long as that couple has an outlet from the pond they aren't really holding all the water, just temporarily delaying some of it for their enjoyment, and for all the visiting critters. Makes no sense.

Thanks for the trip pictures, rugged place with lots to see. Surprising to us how many people comment on some areas being so boring to have to cross; they never slow down enough to see all the natural beauty.

I think they might use flex shafts with mounted points on them to get in the depressions and grooves. Kratex wheels come to mind. I've had pretty good luck with grit embedded wet terry cloth mounted on a whip stick [metal rod with a slot cut in it lengthwise to hold the cloth. Slow but effective.
