Lee, sounds like a win-win for you. Hope you have fun, and make a little money, too. Is your vehicle road ready? Just kidding, I'm sure your vehicle is meticulously maintained.

We have a Krispy Kreme up the street. A really old one. It's on one of the main Blvds. Every time that hot and now sign is lit the traffic backs up. Luckily, DH and I were raised on Dunkin' Donuts. Not really crazy about the ultra sweet Krispy Kreme. But, man people line up for those things! Tela, I agree with you on the Krispy Kremes - blech! Our local Albertson's used to make doughnuts in store. When Krispy Kreme started up (a few years back), they started selling those instead in the store - double blech! That didn't last too long, and then they were out of here! I guess a lot of people around here must feel the same as I do about their wares There are a few locally owned non-chain doughnut shops around, several of them are pretty dang good. Our favorites, as of late, are apple fritters from Miss Donut. In this terrible economy, they've gotten pricey! At least they are huge, so you feel like you are getting something for your money.

Neat! Cool cab, Bob. One of a kind.
The circles along the bottom edge of the "bell" make me think of UFOs (or UAPs, if you prefer).
Maybe I've just been watching too many episodes of Ancient Aliens, et al. Say what you will, but I find many of those shows fascinating!

I got a text from Rob ( Jugglerguy ) aka Michigan Rocks that he had uploaded his video tour of The Rock Shed. It was awesome to be there during the filming of this video. Shawn (owner of The Rock Shed) was SO gracious while we were there...I say "we" because I got to tag along to all the "off-limits" places! LOL - I told Rob I'd post a thread because so many forum members would probably love to see where their rough and grit (AND TOOTSIE ROLLS) are coming from!! Heck, I even make a cameo appearance in this one! LOL Hey, jasoninsd! As it just so happens, I was looking through my phone to see if there was anything worth watching on. (Getting pretty dang tired of politics!) I stumbled across Rob's video of the Rock Shed! I caught it just starting, but had to stop and get dinner going. Watched maybe ten minutes of it earlier. Now that dinner is finished and the dishes are done, I'll be watching it from the beginning shortly. Looks like you had a blast! Will let you know what I think of your big YouTube debut!

Cool slabs, Randy! Don't see green in poop very often. Must've been something he ate

Mark Mark K - You know they don't give a crap about your actual costs and time involved. They just want to take Mo-Money. Every RTHling KNOWS we work hard for our money. Government employees have no idea how the rest of us live (paycheck to paycheck!). They take away and spend it on the dumbest crap. Hard to believe how much they waste. Studies on sex lives of hamsters?? How about giving oodles of $ to Ukraine? That would be a big NO from me. What do they have on Joe!?

Just have to stay open to the possibilities! Of course, many are limited by budgetary restraints. To those of us that can't afford new, we have got to fix what we have, or do without, lol.
Smart, lucky, or just good Karma!

My old man also has facial hair. He had a full beard when we met back in 1979. Bet there's more than a few RTHlings that weren't even born then, you young pups! When he was younger he was a bit of a ginger I'd say he was a strawberry blonde. When we met, his beard was fiery red!
He used to shave regularly back then, although he had to buy Gilette Blue blades so he didn't rash out so bad. He really doesn't believe in maintaining anything, lol. So I became the family stylist and barber. At least he knew, I always gave it my all, and he never complained. (I'm sure a few of them could have been better.) We always joked that a bad haircut (or beard trim!) was a temporary thing. It would always grow back! It has been pure white for at least the last 15 or 20 years.
I believe he has shaved it and his mustache off together exactly one time in all the years we've been together. So different did he look that his own boss was asking the other employees, "Who's the new man?" Too funny!

I came. I saw. I kicked some ass. I sold an entire 12x8x10 box full of slabs. I came with two full boxes of slabs and left with almost everything fitting in the one box. I had to take money out of the cash box as a security precaution. Way to go, Mark! Glad to hear you did well. There's one good thing about sales in person at a show - cash is king!

Wow, 100 years old! I hope she has lived a wonderful life so far!
My dad used to always say he was going to live to 100. George Burns did, so why not? Dad will be 93 in July, still going (relatively) strong. His father lived into his late 80s or 90s, don't recall for sure. My mom passed in 2014.
That clock is cool, Rick, thanks for posting it. I'll have to look it up. Makes sense that it has already been invented!

Happy Mother's Day. Happy Mother's Day to you too, Tela, and to all other RTHlings that are, have, or have had mothers. I actually had thought it was NEXT Sunday. Time sometimes goes fast for me, sometimes slow. I went to an appointment with my neurosurgeon on Monday, I was a month early. Guess I'll be going back in a month, doh. Are there any inventors on here? I've thought about this for a long time. Someone needs to come up with a clock that only tells day of the week. Not a wristwatch, a clock that can sit on a shelf or counter. Or maybe a wall clock. Happy Mother's Day to all it applies to!

I saw this post earlier today. My thought was it needed more water, also. I add water with a squirt bottle. I haven't used it recently, but I, too, have a vibe. After using it for a while, you'll be able to judge if it is too wet or too dry, by it's movement. Most often, you will find yourself adding water, as all that rotational motion tends to dry things out. Give it a squirt or two of water to get it wetter. Still dry, give it another spritz.
Spraying with a spritz of water better than just pouring in an amount.

Have been there many times, although not recently. Bob and I used to walk the paved road through the park after work, three days a week. It's a really cool place, with a lot of wildflowers and wildlife, including snakes and lizards, and all types of birds. One late evening, Bob went walking by himself. It was dark out, and a mountain lion came running up the hill from the river, and crossed the road right in front of him! In one bound, it was across the road, then straight up the steep hill on the opposite side, then it was gone. Startling to say the least! Thanks for posting that, 1dave.

I was doing a little spring cleaning, found this one tucked away. All fractures are healed, this material typically sells as fawn stone, from the Globe, AZ area. There is a lots of variations in this stone, it is fun to cut. Beautiful sphere/stone Tim. Nice colors and patterning!

He's got some great tools to use. Never seen anyone tack on keys, insert a rod, and use a bridge puller to pull it out. Whomever came up with that is a genius! Unless the car was a showcar, or the owner was a rich client, most would not do such meticulous work. Instead, they'd be slathering on the Bondo (what we used to call filler in decades gone past). I've seen some places apply it pretty thick. They did a great job on the creased rocker panel! I'll never do any autobody work again, but having the right tools certainly helps! Thanks for posting that, 1dave!

That happens here (San Diego) as well. A few people have been killed over the years.
Some people fall off the cliff (more common), and some people the cliff falls on them.

Hello, Mark. How are you doing?
I'm pretty certain that map was drawn by Mary Frances Strong. She was doing that some time back in Desert Magazine, just about one in every monthly issue.
She also did the same type of maps to rockhounding locations in Desert Gem Trails.
I have scanned filles of most of the Desert Magazines on my HP (computer, not saw, lol), that are easily searched, if you want to know which issue of DM it came from. And/or I can take a look at my copy of AZ Desert Gem Trails tomorrow and get back to you.
Since I no longer have to get up by a certain time (unless I have a doctor's appointment or something), I've been finding it increasingly harder to get to bed before midnight

I suppose EVERY day we're above ground and breathing is the "first day" of the rest of our lives! LOL For the last month, I haven't been bombarding the forum with a ton of posts like I usually do...probably to the elation of some of the members! Heck, I didn't enter a cab in the cab contest and I didn't do a wire-wrap for the April challenge! I was busy with pulling my hair out. For the last three years, I have been blessed to have been able to take some time off from "real life" and I enjoyed pretty much every moment of vacation from that dreaded four-letter word...WORK! However, like the saying goes, "This too shall pass!" Last Friday I accepted a job offer, and started back to work on Monday! I spent most of April going through the internet job boards, applying for some of the jobs that caught my eye...or should I say the jobs for which I was willing to exchange a good portion of my life. I interviewed for several positions, most of which I convinced myself I could somehow be "happy" doing. There were a couple sales positions, some collections positions, and some managerial positions...all of which I do have experience in doing. Quite a bit of my adult life (don't laugh! LOL), I have had jobs doing collections. Yeah...I was "that" guy! Deep down I knew I wouldn't be happy doing it, but I'm good at it, so I could have made good money doing it. Thankfully, I was able to turn down the position as something better came along. There were SO many different signs that the job I took was the right one. I took a position selling flooring with a large furniture store in town. They have been around for a very long time...and the owners are VERY religious! So, when I was talking to the big guy upstairs...no...not the owner...the REALLY big guy, I was asking for direction. So, when I saw sign after sign, I truly believe this was the right thing to do! When I had interviewed for other positions, they weren't open to a couple commitments I already had in place. One of those was the visit of Rob (jugglerguy) coming up here in about a week. No, I didn't make the decision based on his visit...in fact I contacted him and told him everything was up in the air as I didn't know if it was going to work out. However, the company I'm working for said it was absolutely no problem at all. Okay...there was a sign. The day I had my second interview with the company, I had a ZOOM interview scheduled with another company first thing in the morning. The ZOOM meeting was set for 9am and my second interview with the owner and two managers with the company I work for now was set for 11am. I figured the ZOOM meeting would last an hour at most, so it shouldn't be a problem! Wrong! The ZOOM meeting kept going and going and didn't get done until 10:45! I raced to get out of the house, but knew I wasn't going to make it. I figured I'd get there and they'd say thanks but no thanks! I tried to call on the way, but reception was bad, and the lady couldn't hear me. I drove on...and tried again. Finally, I got through to her and she said she'd let the General Manager know I was "stuck in traffic" and would be a few minutes late. It ended up being 15 minutes late! Well, I got there and the owner (who I hadn't met yet), the Flooring Manager, and the General Manager asked me to wait while they chatted. I figured that was the end of it. They had me come in, we sat in the office and talked for a while. They asked me to step out again while the went over things. They called me back in and offered me the job! I was shocked they didn't hold me being late (I can't tell you the last time I was late for something!) against me!! Okay...there was another sign!! I said I'd like to talk things over with my wife that afternoon when she got home, and I'd call them back with an answer. They said absolutely. I called my wife at lunch and talked things over with her. I told her the dollar amount they had offered me, which was more than either of us was expecting...and she had no objections. LOL - My work schedule is a little wonky...every Sunday off...and I'll get Wednesdays off after awhile...right now it'll be Thursdays so I have the same day off as the flooring manager. When my wife and I talked at lunch, she was in her vehicle and she had turned off the radio while we were talking. When she was on her way home that afternoon, she got halfway home before she turned on the radio. The instant she turned on the radio, there was a commercial for the company I am now working for playing!! Coincidence...or sign? I say that's another sign!! My wife has a thing with the number 22. She always sees it...or the total for groceries or fast food has a 22 in the amount...that's just HER number. Yesterday, I realized what the address of the store I work at is...that's right, the street address is 2222! LOL - Another "sign"! LOL I have been "dreading" going back to work for awhile now. However, just these first three days have put me at ease. My "boss" has an amazing personality...very patient...and very kind. Remember I said the owners were very religious? Yesterday at work, a gentleman came in (the others seemed to know him) and he walked right up to me. He introduced himself and knew I had just started. He is a minister. The owner has arranged for him to come through the stores (there's the flooring store I work at, an appliance store, and three furniture stores) to speak with the staff. Not necessarily as a religious figure (although it is clear he's a minister), but rather to be a counselor if needed, pray if needed, about anything the staff has going on. To me, that's an amazing "benefit"! I just wanted to let y'all know how things have changed for me...and the reason why I won't be posting cabs or wraps to the massive degree I have been doing! I've got to figure out how to continue doing what I love with regards to this "hobby"...because I am not walking away from it...but I will be slowing down! Yay! I think... That's a good thing, right? ETA, I better clarify that. I meant going back to work. It sounds like a great place to work, and you did keep getting signs. Congratulations!

Sunrise at our little fishing village on the South Carolina coast this morning. Great photo, RickB. (I was still sleeping when you took this pic, lol.) This sunrise makes me think of a sunset in Margariteville!

THE BIKER & THE LION
A little girl leans into a lion's cage. Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the collar of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her, under the eyes of her screaming parents.
A biker jumps off his Harley, runs to the cage and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch. Whimpering from the pain the lion jumps back letting go of the girl, and the biker brings the girl to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly.
A reporter has watched the whole event. The reporter addressing the Harley rider says, 'Sir, this was the most gallant and bravest thing I've seen a man do in my whole life.’
The Harley rider replies, 'Why, it was nothing, really. The lion was behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger, and acted as I felt right.'
The reporter says, 'Well, I'll make sure this won't go unnoticed. I'm a journalist, you know, and tomorrow's paper will have this story on the front page. So, what do you do for a living, and what political affiliation do you have?'
The biker replies "I'm a U.S. Marine, a Republican and I voted for Trump".
The journalist leaves.
The following morning the biker buys the paper to see if it indeed brings news of his actions, and reads on the front page:
** U.S. MARINE ASSAULTS AFRICAN IMMIGRANT & STEALS HIS LUNCH. **
And THAT pretty much sums up the media's approach to the news these days... Worthless POCs!
