I've never seen a sunstone in person, but I sure love the pictures. Are you going to tumble 'em? If so, please post picture when they're done. YES! There are lots of us out here that would love to see what you do with them. They are pretty as they are, but please show us what they look like when you are through with them?! For sure! I usually tumble the smaller pieces and have the chunkier uns cut...I'll be sure to post pics when done!

Hi All,
I had some time off saved up so I took another trip to Plush Oregon to get more Sunstones ( cain't never have enough ) Left Socal Friday AM and made it to the Sunstone area Saturday morning. I did the mine run at one of the mines and did some walking around the public collection area. Saw a LOT of rabbits out there. Saturday night I was treated to a beautiful star show up in the heavens...the sky was so clear the milky way was visible....I don't see 'em like that in the city ....anywho...its quite an awesome place to visit.... hope you like the pics....
Passing thru Davis Creek Cali...on the way to Lakeview OR
Nice Hill on the way to the mines
nice view of the high desert
I walked around the public area for a couple of hours and collected these...about 1/2 of clear sunstones....
another look
I did the mine run at one of the mines...here's what I was blessed with...almost 4 lbs of sunstones.....still haven't finished looking thru all of them but there's quite a few schillers in the mix
'Nother look
found some watermelons!!! hope to find some more when I go thru the whole lot
my fav find of the trip.....big schiller.....
thanks for looking all....I love going to this place.....i'll be back

hi...not a rock god but I use a dremel tool with diamond drill bits....I use a lot of water when drilling thru the piece ( I actually partially submerge the piece i'm drilling in water) being careful not to drill too long (mebbe 5 -10 secs) nor use too much pressure....good luck and don't forget to post pics!!! joe

before we get to accusatory about desert dwellers as loco en la cabeza to live here it be well to keep in mind that some of the oldest settlement of mankind have thrived in a desert environment. But still it take roca en la cabaza to wonder why mostly Word Up!!!!!
the desert in its purest form is a beautiful place....dangerous and prickly but beautiful nonetheless....

OK, fess up Joe. Where did you get those? Did you rockhound them all out yourself? spectrum mine for the most part...you can find a whole bunch of tumbling rough just by walking around that area
