I like that ring, the stone is cool and there is nothing wrong with your split shank. Keep posting more so we can enjoy them too. Thanks, i was not carefull enough(precisson is not one of my syring sides) so I made the cut down the shank uneven and ended up having to file away a lot.

It has been a while since I was here, but I guess this forum Will Allwas draw me back. I forgot my flickr password and e-mail for photosharing so i’ll try using my Instagram instead. I’m really into silversmithing at the moment but the learning Curve is loooooong😩 This is my first split ring shank and I made a mess of it, but I managed to clean it up ok. http://instagram.com/p/Bk0kst5hsFu

Not exactly a vise, but I use a collection of shims on my 10" saw. I like it much better than the vise I bought for it. I’m looking for an alternative to a vise, and maybe yours soulution could work for me. Do you have any pictures? I can’t figure out how to get the rock steady

Interesting idea! How do the compressed Wood pellets work out monna0000 ? What type of wood... and how long do they last for. I have heard of using walnut shells. It works fine for me, I do tumble both soft and hard stones so the it works for both types. The polish goes into all the littel holes in the pellets and really gets moved around. It is less attention needing since its a dry polish and it takes the same amount of time to polish. I bought a big bag (30 lbs for 6$ ) the deceleration says pine tree, but I dont know if it matters? (link to the Danish ones www.harald-nyborg.dk/p2143/traepiller-8mm-16-kg) and I think its the same as thees ones www.homedepot.com/p/Stove-Chow-Premium-Wood-Pellet-Fuel-40-lb-Bag-Stove-Chow/205700777I made a small video(click on the picture) just for you gmitch067 to show you how it looks. I have done 3 batches of polish with theese and they still hold up. I added 4 table spoons of AO to my Raytech 10 with the first batch and for the next 2 batches I only added 1 table spoon as there already was enough. I do have separat bowls for grinding and polish wich makes it easy. IMG_9357 by Mona Hemmingsen, on Flickr This is the left over from my latest batch wich was a test batch of mixed stones and preforms, it even did give a great polish to my small marble nuggets from greece. Hope you try this and like it - I'm really happy with it.

I dry polish and loves my AO and as a media I use compressed Wood pellets, so I can reuse the AO and media over and over again and the Wood pellets are so cheep.

Gorgeous Swazi! All the others too! monna0000 , you have garden statues out of larvakite? Like rock carvings?? That would be gorgeous. And BUILDINGS? Those must be gorgeous! Yes, we got a lot of these giant leadblocks with the ice from Norway and they also have a quary up there. Here are some of the small sculptures but we also have a harbor front made entirely of Larvikite. Of course I cant remember where but I'll see if I can find it. Sculptures

Thank You I thought I had remembered it being called a moonstone, but images I pulled up were totally different. They did not link to Larvakite at all. I Think is because it’s an unofficial name, but if I google it on Danish ( Norsk månesten) the images that shows are larvikite. In Denmark we also use it for countertops but also uses it in buildings and for all kinds of garden statusses(sorry for my spelling)

3 celcius here but it’s also night. Daytime we have about 5 or 6 celcius. We have had a 2 days with snow here in december but nothing that lasted long enough for the kids to play in the snow. Would have been so nice with a White christmas😩

If you are cutting a square, rectangle, triangle... anything with tight angles and a point, do you leave a bevel in at the point? Or, do you grind out the bevel for an even dome? I see both, but I was wondering what is more common or acceptable. I generally grind out the little ridge/bevel for an even dome to the top. I like the look of the other better, though. Great question, i've been wondering the same, I really like the "sharp" look the ridge gives the cab but I often end out grinding it out for the same reason as you, it's like a habit i can't help myself, but i like the sharp look better🙃
