Do you keep a post somewhere that shows how much money is still left over from last year and all of the monthly charges it is being used to pay?

Win For what is worth these were tumbled in stage (46/70) one at normal fill level in a mixed rock batch containing mostly agates and jaspers. No fillers no smalls. Stage two in the loto 120/220 SC for 48 hours. Stage three loto 500 AO for 96 hours. Stage four was AO polish from the rockshed for 48 hours. That's it in a nutshell. Not even a burnish stage. All of my obsidian and apache tears go through stage one in mixed rock batches with no specail treatment. I set them aside at stage one clean outs to run in dedicated batches when they hit the loto though. Plenty of different recipes out there but this one has never failed me. Chuck This is how I always did my obsidian and apache tears also (well close enough). The only difference was I only did 48 hours in 500AO and added 48 hours in 1000AO. There were always some that developed a chip or scratch. I grabbed them after final polish and threw them back into general population.

I've struggled with the "hard stop" feature. It seems like there is a little variance on the stop depending on how hard you're pushing down. I sent an email to Jarvi and was told this is normal and that most people set their hard stop just a little bit past zero and then cut to zero. This does not seem like a hard stop way of using the machine, but this is also my first machine and I'm not 100% sure what I'm doing most of the time. So I think I'm using my machine as a "soft stop" based on the recommendation above. I slowly cut to zero for the first few cuts and then do everything else by eye after that (if it makes sense). I'll be interested in hearing your thoughts after you get your machine back.

I'm not sure about the oolite. I think that was from a purchase that was supposed to be snowflake obsidian. I think you can see some of it in my "for sale" picture. Either way, great batch!

Obsidian sure is a finicky tumble but yours looks really good. I always seem to get a few that take a turn for the worse right at the end. No biggie to just toss those ones back in the stage one bucket for a week. The color changing glass is cool stuff. The second photo from the bottom is my favorite. Might be silver sheen obsidian? Chuck Agreed! I used to always have pieces that went into final polish looking fine and would come out with a chip or scratch. I stopped worrying about it and just tossed those back into the rough barrel. I also want to add that I checked the rocks both wet and dry out of thew rough stage. Letting them dry seemed to show things I missed when they were wet. Nice shiny batch!
