Thank you all for the birthday wishes. zarguy! It's 12am somewhere so it's officially your birthday and I hope you have a great day ... in a few hours when the sun comes up Tommy, I was born 13 minutes after midnight, so you're not jumping the gun! Lynn

I think the mystery cab IS Stone Canyon jasper. I've seen some with lots of white like that & a little gold, red & black. Lynn

Great score! That Scott Murray hexagonal one was my first tumbler. My dad bought it for me used when I was 13 or so. Lynn

Do have to caution the rock’n heart design may have limited shelf life First time this as happen! I often wondered It was an everyday wear for about 7 years so now I knohs already told the story elsewhere so don’t want to belabor the point after I warm up this season can repair/regrind this fine find Ed, I bet you'd never have that problem with HXTAL epoxy. It's pricey, but 1 drop of part B & 3 drops of part A would glue 2 or 3 hearts. Lynn

I used 5 carats into a small amount of epoxy and coated 2 6” x 2.5” belts, put some on our worn hard wheel left of it, and made a nova burr for the dremel. knave , I think you're the first person who said they re-coated a hard wheel. Please let us know how it cuts, wears, etc. But I would recommend adding comments to the original thread so it's all in one place. forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/27289/refurbishing-diamond-wheelsLynn

SOLD - Thanks Randy!
If you want to read about Rocks, Gems, Lapidary & Jewelry making from hard to get magazines from the '70s - 2000s my time machine is out of the shop & at your service!
There's lots of valuable info about collecting locations that may still be active. You can also see how cheap lapidary equipment & rough rocks were back in the day.
These are sold in groups from a single year, some issues are missing. I will not sell individual issues and you can't look through them. I've spent a lot of time sorting, bagging them, and listing what's included & not included. Of course they are used. The older they are, the yellower the pages!
A complete year is $10, minus $.85 for each missing issue. Cash, Venmo & PayPal accepted. These are located in Cedar City, Utah. I will not ship them.
I can bring any that you want to Quartzite during the Pow-Wow weekend (Jan 20-25). Let me know which ones you want.
I was trying to load some pics, but I'm having problems with my ftp client.

socalagatehound Wow! This is cream of the crop material, workmanship & even photography! I've seen Fancy Jasper & Howardite, but nothing to compare with these! Even though I didn't name the others, they're all great. Keep on cabbin'. Lynn

Unless something has changed since October 26th, Tuscon is cancelled.
That link only talks about only one of many Tucson shows being cancelled. Lynn

I bought a saw with stinky kerosene gunk all over it. Scrapping wasn't easy! I tried soaking it in more kerosene, but that didn't soften up the gunk. I ended up taking it to a powder coating business & had them sand blast the gunk off. It was $ well spent. Lynn

In the first picture with the sign are those caves in the background just above ground level it looks like a row of them I think someone in our group said that that gray cliff has pet wood eroding out of it, but we didn't go there. Do you know anything about pet wood at that location? Lynn

I was at Shootering Canyon on Oct 1st. There was tons of coprolite. A whole valley full! I didn't find very good quality, but a few will get sliced soon to see what's inside. Most of it has cleaved into plates. I found very few whole rocks.
I'm amazed that that much coprolite could have ended up in one place. Sometimes I wonder if some is not Dino poop, but some kind of agatized mud/algae or something. I don't understand how individual poops fossilzed. It would seem that it would homogenize & not be separate pieces. And why is it concentrated in a valley? Wouldn't it be found all over the general area?

I have a couple of similar rocks. I've heard them called Crowley Ridge agates. Is that what yours is? Lynn

Lynn, I go to Hanksville a few times a year and you need to visit Rockin Riddle Rock shop on the West end of town, on the North side of the road. Visit with owner, Cathy Rosenbaum and she'll hook you up with plenty of places to go. The shop ph. # is 801-603-6448 Thanks! My friend talked about her. Looking forward to meeting her, I never got to the shop when Ernie Shirley ran it. I missed out on his piles of Dino bone. Lynn

Since the Moab, UT show I do every Oct has been cancelled, I'll be making a trip to that area for hounding the first weekend in Oct. I expect to spend some time between the San Rafael Swell & Hwy 24 for grape agate. I may go to Floy Rd east of Green River & look for Pigeon Blood agate.
I know there's petrified wood & other goodies close to Hanksville. I'd love to hear what can be found there and some specific directions. TIA
Lynn
