This is why I do not come on here much any more to many self righteous folks that think they have the right to run people off over this made up 100 post rule that doesn't exist.

Rock breaking 101! A steel plate is a must as said above. I use a old sock if the rock will fit inside it. An old tee shirt works for bigger rocks. A pair of gloves are a must as are safety glasses. I put the chisel on the rock where it looks like it needs broke cover in rag or sock and tap it with some controlled restraint, hitting it to hard will cause to many fractures. If i just want to break a rock up I just cover and hit it till i get the sizes i want, not to hard as it makes for to many splinters or shards, that is not good for tumbling.

Nice polish on that material its hard to get a nice shine on it. I have a chunk in my front yard also I have no idea how much it weight's I cant pick it up. Its close to 300 lbs. as I could pick up 250lbs. plus when I got it years ago. I was in Alpine at a rock shop at a motel looking in a rock bin when a guy walks up and starts talking rocks of course. He tells me he was in Llano and dug up a huge chunk and could not lift it so he left it where he dug it up at. He told me where it was, sure enough it was still there. I rolled it down off the hill it hit with a big thud I thought it would break apart but it did not even break a small piece off. There was a pot hole on the berm of the road put the back wheel of my van in hole rolled big boy over to bumper rolled it on edge of bumper and on into van with great effort lol. Got home rolled it out into garden been there since that day and have no plans on moving it lol.

I went! I love the show. I like it better than the show at Cincinnati Gardens even though it's twice the size. Did you set up there. George
