I have rotary that holds two 3 lb drums, which I haven’t used in probably 2-3 weeks while I was running my vibratory. I went to load it up and noticed something was off. It rotated a few times then acted like it was stuck. I pulled one drum off and it started working again. I thought maybe it was just binding up, so readjusted the drums and kept trying until I got it to run.
That worked for a few hours, but now it wont turn if I put load on it. I’ve only had it for maybe two months, and thought maybe it got some of the slurry from the vibratory when the bowl came off a few times.
Any recommendations? Is this something I can take apart and try to repair myself?

It’s a Leegol Electric dual drum tumbler. (PG-LG-002)

I’m not too familiar with the Leegol, but online it says they have a life-time warranty. Thus I’d contact the seller or manufacturer and request a refund or replacement. Some reviews claim the motor will burn out in 2 months with continuous use, while others claim they are great. But the problem with comparisons like this is everything is subjective depending on where and how it was used. You mentioned it may have been affected by the vibe which leaked all over the place. That’s possible I suppose, but does the tumbler have slurry all over it? If not then perhaps that’s not the reason. Did you run it in a location that is super hot without proper ventilation? That may not have anything to do with it either, but when my garage gets hot because it’s near 100° outside, I don’t run my tumblers. I’m sure some folks will tell you they run them regardless, but that’s just how I do it. Did you properly fill both barrels with rocks and water? The rocks should only go up to 2/3 of the barrel, and the water just below them or up to 1.5 inches below them, depending on how aggressive you want to tumble. As an example I’m running jasper currently in mine and the pieces are pretty rough and jagged. Thus, I kept the rocks at 2/3 full and the water is a little over 1 inch below them. Again some folks will claim this is incorrect and they do it differently, but in rock tumbling everybody uses their own insight and experience to determine what is best for them. Eventually you will find what works best for you for the type of rocks you’re tumbling.
One other thing I can tell you is I researched all rotary tumblers quite a bit before I bought, and I went with a tried and true one that has a history of lasting for years. It cost a bit more than you may have paid, but if it runs like they claim it does, then that’s worth it to me. As an example I bought mine back in February of this year, and it has been running every single week since then except one, where the temperatures in the garage got excessive like I mentioned above. The one I got is the Lortone 33B double barrel.
I hope this will help you.
Good luck and let us know how things turn out.

Sounds like the belt needs adjusting, probably stretched it happens. I just looked up your tumbler on Leegol Electric web site looks like it should have had some extra belts. Now is as good of time as any to start learning to work on tumblers. No need to ask for a refund or send it back. All belts stretch and need replacing. Good luck.

From what I found on the Leegol when I was deciding what tumbler to get was that they need the bearings on the rods oiled frequently, like every 3 or 4 days or they can stop spinning. Just Use a Couple Drops of 3 in 1 Oil on each bearing at the end of both rods and see if that helps. If the new belt doesnt fix the issue.

Instead of re-oiling twice a week just use grease one application in all four corners and your good for upto two years constant use!
Original poster your belt is too loose adjust the tension!

Do you have a pic of your tumbler you could post?
I've had some weird problems that presented as a belt problem and turned out to be bearing, weight or shaft related. A pic at help.

Most of the times this happened to me,the shafts had gotten dirty and slick.Took a piece of sandpaper and with the rotary barrels off and machine running, wrapped the paper arond shaft, cleaned it off and roughened it up . My problem most of the time if not the belts.
