I am on a wait list for several contractors needed to transform my utility room to a lapidary place. As of now, ETA for electric, plumbing, floor, widow and ventilation is from May of 2023 to July of 2023. I can get the stone counters at almost anytime.
The demand for contractors here is huge. This would be considered a small job by many. Most contractors are giving preference to large jobs and new construction.
I feel thankfu; that I was put on the schedules for 3 separate contractors.

Congratulations Beth...that is exciting news! I hope at least one of the three contractors is reliable. That seems to be a MAJOR problem in our area. A lot of talk and very little action. Fingers crossed for you!

Good news, and I definitely feel your pain with contractor/handyman availability. New housing here is definitely a priority so the only options here seem to be unlicenced or insured questionable people.
As soon as the monsoons subside (raining big time right now) I plan to re-roof my shop building, and finding someone so I don't have to try to move 16 foot x 40 inch corrugated panels about 11 feet up a ladder by myself has proved pretty much impossible. I gave up on help for my kitchen remodel and new flooring in our main house, so it's Elizabeth and myself there doing a few days worth of work and taking weeks to do it.
Don't know your specific situation, but if you're doing it with permits you should make sure they really get pulled. I have experienced the best and worst in AZ contractors over the last 2 years and it's important to check and verify, preferrably without offending them, seems like sometimes even the honest good ones can get thin skinned if they think you're micromanaging their job.

Thanks everyone.
Yes, will require permits. I have a requirement that a hardcopy of the permits be posted. It is a municipal requirement here. All contractors are responsible for the permits. The filing cost is included in their bids.
Most are licensed contractors. One is a handyman. He is coming here in a couple of weeks to do other work. He came highly rated by friends of mine, so I hope he does a great job.
I just cannot wait to be able to use all the equipment I have.
