rocknewb101 Rocco sure looks to have Rhodesian in the mix. A common trait is their use of the front of the chest as the point of impact and/or the front legs raised up horizontal quickly staying in stride to push the other off balance. Their goal is to topple preferably at high speeds. Now you have to post photos of the others please. Catahoulas are such cool dogs. Hounds are cool dogs. All dogs are cool but hounds are just irresistible. Having worked with Catahoulas in the hunting field years ago I fell in love with them. A hunting breeder way back in the north Georgia mountains was the source of the stock. As he called them 'gritty' and they were, they were also the sweetest tractable dogs. I quit hog hunting long ago when one of the Catahoulas was injured. Hmmm...he very well may have some Rhodesian - he's incredibly strong and uses his front to push into whatever he wants lol...I'll start another post below with the houla and other two. Bruce (catahoula) was more of a couch hunter than hog hunter lol...

Bruce - Catahoula Mix - now passed on Tate, Tater, Tater tot, loud mouth - Fox Hound Mix - he was our foster and we initially were told beagle mix until his legs kept growing and he became almost 80lbs Dezzie - Initially told plott hound mix. Per DNA test she's mostly cocker spaniel (yea, right lol), redbone, boxer, pug haha.... We also have two rats that are my daughters and safely in their ferret nation cage out of reach of the houndies. I love hounds, but I can not get past the HoundSong. We live in a tight neighborhood so always worried about the neighbors...

Love the Catahoula attitude, I'm not stepping in your yard ! Certain that Bruce is missed... Looks like a broad mix of attitude there. Never trust what we think is a dog mix, DNA test sure tells a different story in most cases. Rescue is the way. Hey, when we breed we do very thorough testing and have had very hearty/healthy outcomes, least we can do. What a happy family rocknewb101. Thanks for sharing.

jasoninsd - I must have slept wrong on the(good) shoulder last night. Nauseatingly and persistently painful and got heavy duties today. grrr Advil hurry up... It must've been something in the air last night...or the phase of the full moon. I slept like crap last night...woke up like I was the loser in a 12-round boxing match! (My wife woke up smiling at me this morning...like she was the winner of the bout! LOL) rocknewb101 - Loved seeing the pics of the other fur-babies!! I know everyone on here appreciates seeing rock pictures...followed VERY closely by pet pics!!

That was actually his smile. Not a mean bone in that chonky body...unless you were threatening his people. I'm all rescue, but I totally appreciate breeders who do their due diligence. Thank you for that!! Working in the vet field and rescue I've seen so many poorly bred animals. Not to mention all of the puppy mill breeder releases I'd help transport. Very sad to see them belly crawl because they have such fear. But I digress....no sad talk here

Very sad to see them belly crawl because they have such fear. But I digress....no sad talk here We used to have a litter about every 1.5 years. We used to have a 100 human/40 dog party every summer for the litter owners. We tied a specific colored bandana to each litter so the owners could meet and check out siblings/aunts/moms/dads/uncles/grandparents... Our bloodlines were notorious for high speed open field tackle play and we never had a bad elbow or hip or injury.(proud of that) X Rays pumped out nothing but excellence in both hips and elbows. Also do tests for negative DNA markers and a bunch of other stuff. Ridgebacks are pretty fresh off the real world hunting block and the AKC has not had a chance to breed defects in them if you get drift. It is amazing to see how durable dogs are when they have good breeding and are orthopaedically tight. Sad to see a set of poorly bred hips that the ball is half in it's socket, actually cruel as hell. Bad breeders need hanging. So Bruce was a smile with lotnlots of teeth. Funny how such an expression can be misread !

Funny how such an expression can be misread ! OMG! What fun that would be. Dogs galore <3 - that's my kind of party . I appreciate breeders like you so much. I wish they were all so concerned about their lineage. I can't tell you how many luxating patellas we would see in poorly bred poodle pups. PUPS! Very sad. Yeah, Bruce would smile like that all the time and people would think he was snarling. He came to me from Arkansas, on a paid transport and was actually what got me into volunteer rescue transporting. He was my gateway dog haha.
