Can anyone confirm this is variscite? Specifically what type. Roughly 4-5 lbs.

Looks like it to me. Can't tell you what type, though, except the good type.

Looks like Variscite...but it's hard to tell for sure. The best way is to have it ID'd in person. I can give you the address of a guy I know in South Dakota who can attempt to verify it. He'll need to probably use half of that piece to get a potentially confirmed ID though...

Definitely looks like variscite. Looks like Utah material but pinpointing the exact location is iffy. My guess would be Lucin but there's a lot of margin for error. Maybe our resident variscite expert 1dave will chime in. Here's a link to his Mindat variscite article which is top-notch info: www.mindat.org/article.php/1670/Variscite

However I’m not surprised considering you think I was born in a barn yesterday 😂🤣😂🤣

Looks like the "gemmy" Lucin variscite I see for an arm, leg & elbow on eBay.

I'm not well versed on variscite by any means. What I see listed as "gemmy" looks like the section in the 1st pic in front of your index finger. It's usually a deeper shade of green with that shine.

Get a chelsea filter, which are inexpensive. You can test it with the filter due to the chromium in variscite. If variscite the stone will appear light pink through the filter.

DEFIANTLY Lucin Utah variscite from Utahlite hill. I bought all my variscite from Leland Turner who owned Turner Glass in Provo Utah. He would mine it with a pickup and a drag bucket. At rock shows I used to sell ~ 1"X1" pieces for a quarter. The expensive stuff came from the Little Green Monster Mine in Clay Canyon, west of Fairfield Utah. Lucin Variscite:

Thanks for that. The filters are only about $20. So nice to keep on hand for certain stones such as emeralds and variscite.
They can also be used to differentiate between some natural stones and simulants.

realrockhound Another simple test for variscite: if you can break off a small chip and heat it lightly it will turn pinkish-violet in color if variscite. Lucin variscite -- in fact all types other than Clay Canyon -- have moderate value as both specimens and cut stones. Nice Lucin cabs sell in the $20-$50 range in my recent experience.

I paid $10 including shipping for these two pieces. I then paid $25 for 6 more pieces including shipping. I was so grateful for the deal, I sent the seller one of the cabs I made from the 6 and a Lucin. forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/98380/different-kind-rock-hounding-projectThey are small 1/2 nodules. I will be glad to provide the source. He has a big bucket of them.
