I took a quick trip to Montana to pick up some big tumblers from a friend of mine. One of these tumblers will take approx 500-750 lbs of rock, the other one is only about a 3-400 pounder. I think I am going to play with the smaller one and see how it works out. When I get some tumbles going I will take pictures. Tony

Nice! My wife is expecting me to show up with a converted cement mixer. She'd have a litter of kittens if I showed up with those.

Seriously tho, How much Grit would you need to load in for 400lbs of rocks, and how many gallons of water? Serious question cause im curious now.

If you go 4 tablespoons per lb of rocks, that comes out to roughly 50lbs of grit, and I threw that number off the top of my head half joking, but I just did the math, and WOW that is A LOT OF GRIT for 1 batch.

I have some 50 lb sacks of 80 grit Aluminum oxice, going to just dump one sack in and see how it does. The big one is just a large single drum. The smaller one has a double drum container. Hard part is going to be finding enough smalls to keep them from beating each other up. I will check with my local body shop and see if they will save me a couple buckets of broken safety glass.

Well, If you want to tumble small Boulders you are set man! lol I mean you could load that thing with a massive load of 5lb to 20lb rocks. Might consider the garden department at wal mart and some cheap landscaping rocks for smalls. Couple 3 bags of those at the link below would likely work for smalls if you are gonna run a batch of Bigger rocks anyway. Just a thought. www.walmart.com/ip/Mexican-Beach-Pebbles-Round-River-Rock-Landscape-Garden-Stones-20-pounds/385699283
