Hello, I am needing to replace the Ameritool flat lap electric motor. My flat lap, if which I am the third or forth owner, has had a very rough life and I have babied it along now for the past two or three years and today the motor finally had enough. I did check the fuse, on the back, and it is fine. No corrosion My multi-meter indicates there is power going into the motor, but the motor is just done, Now the image I have provided is from the motor itself. I have searched high and low for this Leeson Electric Motor Corporation Model No 970.617 and cannot find it. I went through several Leeson Electric resellers and cannot find it. So I am wondering what the replacement motor for this creature is. There is no technical details on this electric motors as one would find on others. So would anybody know what the exact replacement for this now kaput electric motor would be?

Jawsjr, I would try Ameritool and see what their replacement motor might be. Several years I had the bearings go out on a new machine after heavy use and was told the motor was smaller than the older machine and would not take the same stress. Ameritool did replace the bearings free but I had the shipping charge back to the factory. I have the same motor replacement problem with a 7 year old UV-18 vibe Thumbler and finding a motor replacement. I think Grainger might have something similar. I can't check my machine motor for it's motor number to help you without taking quite a few screws out.
