What are you guys doing today?! How do you celebrate or not celebrate? Most know today as Halloween but we celebrate a different holiday today. We celebrate Reformation Day. This year is the 505th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation when Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses to a church door in Wittenburg Germany. (If your interested to learn more heres a quick article www.ligonier.org/learn/articles/what-reformation-day-all-about ) We do games, watch a fun show, eat lots of candy and eat some German inspired food. Tonight, kielbasa, kraut and potatoes! Soli Deo Gloria!! What are you guys doing?!

I plan on parking my tail at the kitchen table...well it WAS the kitchen table until I took it over as my wire-wrapping "bench". Then I plan to turn most of the lights off in the house so I don't get any creepy midgets knocking at my door...watch The Voice and get some wraps done! LOL That kielbasa dish looks delicious!

Was crab cakes, salad & corn on the cob earlier this evening. Turned on the front porch lights and handed candy bars out to the critters that showed up (only 21 this year). Oh yeah, listened to a lot of music today after getting back from Wallyworld.
Edit: The girls that live across the street set up a canopy, table and chairs in their driveway along with a fire pit. They let the kids make their own smores.

We're a Hershey Bar house, so we always have trick-or-treaters coming by. Other than that, just maybe some TV. But I'll share a prior Halloween...
Many years ago, when we lived in Oregon and our kids were little, I had to stay home for trick-or-treaters while my wife took our kids around the neighborhoods. I had set one of my sculpted pumpkins outside and a speaker playing spooky music. Later, around 9:00 or so, I was wondering when my wife and kids would return because the parade of kids at our house had dried up.
That's when I heard and saw three high school boys coming down the street headed straight for our house. Concerned about possible mischief, I put on a whole-head, wild-haired old man mask, and threw on my old Army field jacket to look bigger. I cracked the door a tiny bit and watched them get closer. They stopped at the driveway and then the bravest one of the trio started to walk up to the door.
The very moment he knocked on the door I threw it open, grabbed his jacket, and lifted him up onto his toes. I didn't say a word. I just stared at him. I scared him really good! In a meek voice he said, "Uh, sir, that's a really cool pumpkin you've got there." His buddies were cracking up. I let him down, took off the mask, thanked him, and gave him three Hershey bars. And a memory that he would never forget.

I worked from 8am till almost 7pm - just got home a little while ago. The wife says we had quite a few local kids come to the door earlier, then a pause and now the "imports" (driven in from other neighborhoods) are coming in droves so that's our cue to kill the lights and call it a night.

I did want to say, my wife and I aren't really Halloween grinches...we just live on a street where we really don't get any trick-or-treaters at all. I get a kick out of the costumes! RickB - I seriously never get tired of hearing about your crab cakes! (My mouth started watering! LOL) opalpyrexia - Gary, loved the story!! I almost tagged you a couple days ago wondering if there were any pumpkin carvings for this year! ashley - If you get a chance, search for Gary's thread(s) on his pumpkin carvings...they're off the charts!

We had two little kids come to the door, along with their parents (next door neighbors) and grandparents. Delightful.
So we had six trick or treaters. Gave them all chocolate. Then we went to a small enjoyable party two doors down.
That’s enough!

jasoninsd P.S.- I kinda am a halloween grinch haha! “Tell your mama to buy you some candy, bum, I got bills!!” Handing out candy, I'm the type that would be "One for you...two for me! One for you...THREE for me!" LOL

We're kind of rural, so we don't get kids begging for candy. My sister and BIL love seeing all the kids though. My BIL today answering the door:
