Cute cats Lumberlegs ! Every time I see your screen name I image you have muscular calves or something lol! What’s the story behind the name? Haha that may have been the case for a while. My first year in rocket league football, this old goat of a coach started calling me Lumberlegs, I was a huge kid for my age, haven't grown an inch since 6th grade. So the name kind of stuck with and some of the guys kept using in highschool so eventually I just embraced it I haven't grown an inch since 6th grade either...unfortunately I stopped at 5'6"! LOL

You're a great looking 80, Victor.

In my family- I am the picture taker, so I don't have many of me. But here's a few a few years old.
First up- a camping trip to The George Washington and Jefferson National Forests. We LOVE this place. It's a little Federal campground in a holler in the Appalachian Mountains. Here I am on the way home. I'm grayer now. This was a few years ago, but since I get to choose my picture, I am picking a happy one. And.... this is what I think of having my picture taken. LOL!!!! I usually have a tongue out or finger up. Funny, when my mom passed, I made a book for everyone in the family. I had NO pictures where she wasn't sticking her tongue out.

The first picture is very pleasing. It's heaven on Earth. It's nestled in the mountains. Our favorite spot is next to a wonderful old stream. It's a National Forest camp ground. It's really small, quiet and off the beaten track. We love tent camping.

That's pretty much what happened to my brother, he went from the top of his head level with the bottom of my chin pretty much our whole childhood, and in one school year he was taller than me!
Still as easy to pick on, not as easy to wrestle.

Because of the Covid lockdowns of the last few years (read: stay at home, eat, don't exercise), there are no photos taken of me within the last few years that I will inflict on you. This photo is a group of (mostly) RTHlings, in Quartzsite in January, 2015. The photo was taken on the RTH field trip to Brenda, AZ. Back row, Left to right: Irving and Anita (friends of ours from a previous rock club we belonged to that have gone out to Q with us several times), Mark Mark K, me rockpickerforever, my hubby mrrockpickerforever, Tommy's wife, Tommy Tommy, Charley as a young pup in Tommy's arms (his first trip to Q!) and front row, Diane ( drocknut). Tommy's wife set up the camera and took the photo using the built in timer. Was going to just edit out a pic of the two of us, then thought, What the heck, I'm sure others here would enjoy seeing the rest of the group! We've gone to Brenda three or four times, and field trips to other locations near Q as well. And a great time was had by all!

So cool, I need to do one of these meetups someday.
I'm going to make a trip this year to either Oregon via SD, MT, etc
Or...AZ, NM, Southern Cali

Wherever you go, make it close. Gas at Costco in La Mesa yesterday cost me $5.899 a gallon for Premium, up 20 cents a gallon in two weeks (required in the car I am driving). Two week's worth of driving (grocery shopping, doctor appts, and Monday mornings at my Dad's) cost me $63.
We burned some gas thru the truck on Wednesday (has not been driven much in the last few years since Bob became disabled and retired). Now I have to refill it. 38 gallon tank!! At least it uses regular, thank God for small favors. Glad it is not a diesel.

I still think with the views and ability to come and go as I please, it's the cheaper and better alternative than flying or train.

We bought our truck new from the dealer, 2003 Ford F-250 Super Duty, Super Cab, full-sized bed, V10, 4WD. Got a really good deal on it. Sucking gas is a trade off to having enough truck.
We use it to pull our 19' Weekend Warrior "Ultra Lite" (it's not lite!) to the desert. A regular 3/4 ton would not be enough to pull the trailer, but because the truck is a SuperDuty with the offroad package, we get by. In the owner's manual, there is a convoluted formula to figure out if you have enough truck to pull such a heavy trailer. The GVW of the truck is a bit itself, 7000 lbs, if I recall, then you have to figure in the transmission and final ratio of the diff, wheelbase, yadda, yadda, yadda. Convoluted. I had to call a tow truck once, I told them the truck was heavy, and to send a bigger tow truck. They sent a regular truck! As they lifted the front of my truck, it lifted the front of their truck up off the ground, lol. No bueno! Now if it needs to be towed, I request a flat bed!
If we are driving it on the open freeway, without the trailer, it gets about 10 mpg. Hook the trailer on, it gets 8. Not much difference. It is not your mother's grocery getter! Long ass wheelbase, not fun to take into town, parks like a tank, lol.

Here I am in communion with my spirit animal. Lorri says I'm part of the horny toad tribe. And here's my rock hounding partner Lorri, aka The Hare Whisperer, weaving her spell upon a hapless critter. No kidding, she sings to them.

I have never topped the day(s) we went out and had a good time. Not even the trip where I was so successful that I overloaded the truck in the 1st 5 days and broke the leaf springs when I took the weight out at home can compare.
