wintry scene (makes me glad I'm not there !)
Patty...... spending the day tucking & covering plants before the temp drop.....
Thank you, Patty. My wife's sister and her husband recently moved to the Orlando area from Chicago. Last week they mentioned that the temperature was in the mid-60s and that they were surprised to see people wearing coats and mittens.
I hope that your plants come through this OK!

It's somewhat of the cliche' here when you see people wearing shorts in the winter they are either tourists OR new arrivals
We're up on the Panhandle (think southern Alabama) so normally colder than the Fl peninsula.
But 50's/30's today & 30's/18 tomorrow with 20 mph breeze isn't being welcomed.
Here's hoping on my plants- I did all I could do. Thanks,
Patty

opalpyrexia - Gary, you probably dropped the dop because your fingers were numb from that frozen tundra you were cabbing! Gorgeous cab...and nice recovery from the "slip and fall"!
Thank you, Jason. "Frozen tundra" — well, it was 16 degrees this morning, but quite a bit warmer than the winters I remember from Wisconsin and northern Illinois. That's more like a shorts and t-shirt day for you in SD, no?
Maybe in my younger dumber days. But not now since I'm in my older dumber days...or is it daze??

Sweet — it kind of resembles some of the ice on our driveway.

I was thinking of a snow ball, but an ice ball- that works. All of it looks cold.
Nice polish on that Victor. Patty

Here's my entry. Nyedigger Plume AgateI was trying to go for a blizzard effect with the white and blue. Symbolizing well.... a winter snowstorm/blizzard.

Nice cab. Is that a dye job on the glue?

Nice cab. Is that a dye job on the glue? Nope. Used a regular white agate and colored it’s face with sharpie. Cheap and dirty.

realrockhound So, the blue areas are sharpie marker? Sorry, I am a little confused. The blue really makes the plumes stand out.

Pretty effect with your color choice. I imagine that's pretty close to what one sees just before being buried by an avalanche...

I always look at cabochon making from a jewelry stand point - in other words that the cab might be worn as jewelry by someone.
So I have to ask, did you seal the surface with something ?
We use sharpie markers every day in our shop for pattern making, and know that the marker can be wiped off instantly with alcohol or even sometimes just rubbing it , if it's on a non-porous surface. Anyway, I was just curious about this.

Yeah, its sealed between the agate and epoxy. It's not on the face of the stone.
