….. Jean, I can’t open the Gatorade bottle! I mix the Gatorade with thickener for him —- easier to swallow. I was considering throwing it out the window, but will wait until strong neighbor Tim gets home. Pat , you need to order a Gilhoolie bottle opener from the Vermont Country Store for those times your strong neighbor isn't available to help. We have a similar item and we couldn't get by without it. They really put bottle and jar caps on tightly these days!
I wish I had known about this when we were caring for DH's uncle. He had a real hard time with jars.

rockpickerforever Jean, I'm so sorry all these problems are hitting you at once. I'm so happy Bob's recovered sufficiently to handle the slab leak, but what an awful convergence of events! Slab leaks are terrible...we had one in our last home so I know and sympathize. Still thinking of your upcoming surgery and sending a continuing stream of good wishes your way.

gemfellerThanks for the information. Does this contraption open tall plastic Gatorade caps that screw? It wasn’t shown in their videos. Looks helpful for other lids. I’m ok with lids and cans. A male friend was here and commented on the difficulty. Glad neighbor Tim loosened about 12!

I think the Gilhoolie might if not too much pressure is used -- that's the trick with mine. Firm but not really tight grip.

Hi, Rick, thank you for your loving wishes. We are doing well moving forward, taking things in stride. I am getting better everyday. Tomorrow morning, Bob sees his PC doctor, they have decided because Bob is on Medicare, all of a sudden he needs to see them within the month and get his eyes checked for a diabetic exam. Don't know what the rush is, he saw them in April last year. He also has questions about some of his medications, like why is he still on Metformin (although they did just recently cut the amount in half) when his A1C is at 4.5? Just questions that need answering. Today he started blowing banana pudding from his nose, may need to be started on an antibiotic. He can not afford to get sick right now. It could be all this dug up red clay dirt around her right now, just smells kind of damp. But we are dry inside the house, using a parabolic heater, staying warm. Since my recent visit to hospital and ER, I've got some appts to make and keep following up with labs and stuff that are still required to be done, before they have me come back later. We both have the same health plan, and same primary care doctor. It keeps things simple, he's a great doctor. Picked up the repaired truck today, will be nice not to have to climb over the transmission hump to get in the Pacifica. My bad, I dinged the door on the gate pole at the side of the driveway, four or five months ago. Doh! Still need some minor bodywork to get it to open without forcing it. Truck will require smogging end of next month, and pay registration. We'll take it a day or three at a time and get it working. Then the car needs some deferred maintenance, oil change, etc. This was was my mom's car my Dad gave to me to use five or six years ago. Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts and Prayers. Love, Jean.

rockpickerforever Jean hang in there. I’m sorry to read everything that’s going on. It’s been a rough couple months here as well, and Christa’s having a major surgery tomorrow morning. I’ll be taking care of her as she would me, and as you’ve taken care of Bob as he will you. Bless you my friend. Brian, I'm taking a quote where Jean put it in another thread and putting it here: Quick note - I was released (paroled? from the hospital this afternoon). I've been home since around 4:30. Took them forevermore, but they finally got the discharge papers ready. The house is a mess, large 4 foot by 4 foot (or more!) holes jackhammered into the slab of the garage. We can live with it like this for a little while. Was good to hear from you Brian. I hope Christa's procedure goes well tomorrow. Make sure you get some much needed rest in advance. Sending love and prayers to both you, hoping everything goes well. Jean, it's good to hear you were released from the hospital today. rockpickerforever jasoninsd hummingbirdstones drocknut and rockjunquie we went in at 5 am yesterday morning. She had a bad section of colon that was about to rupture and had to be removed. We had to be prepared for a possible transfusion or an ostomy bag or even worse, but by 10 am the procedure was complete and the resection was successful! She is still at the hospital, hopefully they will release her tomorrow or Saturday. I got home late last night and was back first thing this morning. Thank you all for your thoughts and your prayers! rockpickerforever Jean sorry to highjack your thread, but glad to hear the growth is benign and not growing rapidly! Surgery is scary but I’m sure you’re in very good hands. I wish the very best for you and Bob both!!

JEAN! sorry I was down and out. YOU are of the extra special relatives of us all at RTH, Always a Friend in need and a friend in Deed. You deserves us all at our best.
God is well aware of how special you are. I don't understand his plans for us - He was a little rough on Job - but you and Bob are among his extra special children and He knows it.

Bowel resection is a terrifying thing no one should have to go through. Brian, do not not worry about hijacks, when it is great news like this, everyone needs to hear, and multiple times.

Thanks for your post, Dave. The Lord does indeed work in mysterious ways , as mere mortals, we cannot even begin to comprehend his plans for us. Where he leads, I will follow! Don't sell yourself short, Dave, you are one of His most special accomplishments. So glad that you are still sharing this earth with us. Life would not be the same without you, glad you are a tough old goat, and kept fighting the good fight to be here.

jeez I read all that Jeanie and all I can think of is no rest for the weary I could have said for the wicked butte we all know an angel in disguise mostly Good morning, mohs. I'm going to just mention this one time then let it go, more important things to worry about right now. On one of Bob's last visits to me in the hospital, he was wearing his mask in the room while a worker was in there. When the worker went to leave, Bob removed the ear loop to remove the mask, and it flipped one of his expensive ($5k a pair) hearing aids out of his ear, and it disappeared. Despite several of the housecleaning staff looking for it, it was never found. I think it may have been flung into the trash. I'm hoping his insurance will be paying for a new pair early next year. That is all, carry on!
